- Big thanks to thepancake1 for exporting the baby carrier files from TS4 for me to convert and my supporters for testing and giving feedback!
For the longest time I've wanted an actual functional baby carrier for The Sims 3, so I decided to make one thanks to Growing Together!
Changelog
2024/03/29 (V2)
- When putting a baby or toddler in a carrier or out of it, sims will immediately do so with 1 spin instead of 2.
- Although this was intended behaviour before, sims will no longer keep the carrier on when directed to take a baby or toddler out of it now.
- Babies and toddlers now have the user directed option to Sleep or Wake up while in the carrier.
- Added a usage option for each carrier.
- Sims should no longer put babies or toddlers in a carrier when they go to work. However, this is not affected by sims already wearing a carrier.
- NPC sims are no longer able to use baby carriers. Though, Bonehilda should still be able to use them.
- Babysitter pop-ups should now be completely gone while using a no Babysitter mod.

With the baby carrier, sims
Teen and up can do chores and things while carrying a baby or toddler on their back, or be able to travel around with 2 at once.
• To have your Sim put a baby or toddler in the carrier, click the carrier to put them in it. To take them out, simply select the option to pick them up (which if not done autonomously your sim will keep on wearing the carrier) or take off the carrier completely. Depending on what interaction you give to your sim and if they are holding a toddler, they will automatically put them in the carrier. Sims will put babies in their crib instead.
• Sims can only ever autonomously use the baby carrier that's in their inventory (if there isn't one they will pick one from the lot).
• Babies and toddlers will gain social slowly while they are in a carrier. They can also fall asleep in it if they are tired enough or told to do so (toddlers will have 2 different sleep poses chosen randomly). If they do end up falling asleep, they can wake up randomly or if their energy bar is full.
• Sims can interact with a baby or toddler in the carrier, which will boost their social and relationship.
• You can change whether the baby carrier is usable autonomously or at all, but these settings are for each carrier.
A tuning file is present for changing things like the chances of a baby or toddler sleeping or how much LTR or motive need Sims get. The social boost for babies and toddlers however is handled in the ITUN file and not the settings in the XML.
This is a new scripted object, so conflicts are very unlikely.
-
Do not try and pick up the carrier or the child that is currently being worn in build/buy mode with the MoveObjects cheat, it will crash your game.
- Since the baby carrier is an object that attaches to the sim and not a CAS item, there will be some clipping especially around the pelvis area when sims bend over or lean back, or when they move their shoulders around a lot.
- Sims will be prevented from doing certain interactions that are inappropriate for when they are wearing the carrier, but not every interaction is listed so they might still perform some interactions that don't look right when they have a baby carrier on.
- Sims who are wearing a carrier with a child in it have a hard time trying to sit in dining chairs, especially ones that are scooted into a table.
- I'd recommend using a no babysitter mod since when a sim is on the world lot (not on their home lot or community lot) and they try to visit a lot or go home while carrying a child in a carrier, the babysitter notice will keep popping up.
- If a sim who is wearing a carrier happens to hard reset, the carrier will cease to exist. If there was also a baby or toddler in it they will just reset and appear nearby.
