12 March 2024 - UPDATE: Added Dominic Gray and broken face CAS sims!

As part of a personal fixed neighborhood templates project for The Sims 2 (TS2), I have fixed all the premade Maxis sims that make use of broken face templates by using the fixed versions by Argon. I am aware of some previous attempts from fixed hood templates that are already available for download. However, these are not accurate enough for my personal liking.

This download contains my fixed versions of all sims in TS2 that make use of customized broken template faces.

The fixed sims included here are given below (incl. reason for the fix):
• Hal Capp (Veronaville): uses 21st template with customized eyebrows of 17th template.
• Calpurnia Capp (Veronaville, ancestor): has broken mouth/sabretooth when aged down.
• Cleopatra Capp (Veronaville, ancestor): has broken mouth/sabretooth when aged down.
• Joshua Ruben (Sim State University): uses customized 25th template.
• Martin Ruben (Sim State University): uses customized 25th template.
• Mickey Dosser (La Fiesta Tech): uses customized 25th template.
• Rose Miller (Downtown): uses customized 21st template.
• Dominic Gray (Downtown): uses customized 21st template.
• Priya Ramaswami (Weather): uses customized nose of 25th template.
• Jessica Picaso (Hobbies): uses customized 25th template.
• Sophia Jocque (Desiderata Valley): uses customized 25th template.
• Violet Jocque (Desiderata Valley); uses nose and eyes of 25th template.
• Talbot Contrary (Desiderata Valley, ancestor); uses eyebrows and eyes of 21st template.
• Alonzo Contender (Belladonna Cove, ancestor): uses eyebrows of 21st template.
• Sylvester Baldwin (Belladonna Cove, ancestor): uses mix of 3rd and 21st template.
• Melanie DeBateau (Belladonna Cove, ancestor): uses 25th with eyebrows of 27th template.
• Adult male (CAS): uses customized 25th template.
• Adult female (CAS): uses customized 25th template.
• Young adult male (CAS): uses customized 25th template.
• Young adult female (CAS): uses customized 25th template.

Argon’s fixed versions of the 21st and 25th templates maintain the correct and intended face structure in all life stages, as opposed to the usual erroneous link to the 2nd template in all other life stages than (young) adult, which is what makes these templates broken. This is why the sims listed above, that are NOT in the (young) adult life stage, will appear different than you might be used to.

Argon's fixed versions can be used to replace the broken base templates and premade sims that use them in SimPE. However, on top of using broken templates, the faces of the above-mentioned sims have also been customized. So they have to be recreated from scratch from the fixed base templates provided by Argon in order to obtain a fixed version that accurately represents that sim. Getting the slider adjustments just right can be a very difficult and timeconsuming process.

The broken teeth problem with the face structures of Calpurnia and Cleopatra Capp is quite something else altogether. Just know that they are also broken and I therefore included my fixed versions of them in this download as well.

Note that these are recreations, and may not necessarily be exact despite my best efforts. Nonetheless, to my knowledge, no recreations (nearly) as perfect to the originals as mine are up for download. So here you go! There should be no differences visible in comparison with the Maxis originals in thumbnails or BodyShop. Miniscule differences may in some cases be noticeable while comparing them up close with the originals in Create-A-Sim (CAS).

Also bear in mind that Talbot Contrary still needs to change his facial hair from genetic black to blond in the mirror to end up looking identical to the original. But his face structure is really the only thing that should matter anyway.

I have included the originals by Maxis in this download as well to make it more convenient for you to compare and see for yourself whether my recreations are indeed as accurate as possible (no hard feelings from my part). I also want to encourage people to make further improvements (if this is possible, I would like to know).

Do not distribute this download without my permission. You may use this download to complement your own downloadable hoods, but always give credit where it is due. Pretty much basic courtesy.

Method used:
1) Stored copies of the broken originals in the SavedSims folder, 2) recreated their customized facial features in CAS (using Argon's fixed face templates), 3) kept switching back and forth between the broken originals and my recreations in option 2 in CAS to compare and make sure there are no differences left (tedious process), 4) subtracted the created fixed version's face structure in SimPE and replaced those of the saved broken originals.

Download instructions:
File contains two folders (broken originals and my recreations). Simply drag files from the folders into the SavedSims folder (Document\EA Games\The Sims 2\SavedSims). Files NOT folders! They should show up in BodyShop and CAS. Their face structures can also be extracted directly from their package files with SimPE.

Replacing the face structures of the broken CAS sims, requires opening the globalcatbin.bundle.packages in the game files with SimPE (make backups first!). I've listed their unique group numbers below, so you can find their face structures more easily.

• Nopke for creating custom slider sets: 24 sliders and 20 sliders.
• Creators of SimPE.

Recommendation:
Although not essential for this download, I recommend also using Nopke's fixed mesh for the base-game sportif outfits (cmBodySportif) since the original is kind of broken.
