I borrowed a small Kurt Cobain biography ("Never fade away") from a resident at work last month. I had 2 days off and read the whole thing quickly, so I could return it - but he sadly passed away from a sudden medical complication. His sister (whom I'm friends with, and have been since before he moved to my work) said I could keep the book to remember him by so I have. It's sent me on a bit of a rabbit hole, I've had another Kurt Cobain biography ("Heavier than Heaven") on my bookcases since I was about 15 and never actually read it so I read that next. I read both books within a month, listened to every Nirvana song and watched so many interviews, clips and live performances. It's helped a lot with the grieving process in some weird way. Residents do sadly pass away fairly frequently at work, but I knew this resident's family before and babysit his nephew, so it did hit different.

I'm now reading "The Love Hypothesis" by Ali Hazelwood - I needed something a little lighter

Rain of Shadows and Endings

I've been trying to get through this book for roughly a month. Instead of just dealing with it, I've been engaging in lots of YouTube brain rot. Now that I'm sick of YT, I'm back to this boring AF book. Even at speed 1.5 it is boring and forgettable.

Right now I'm in the middle of the Temeraire series. 'Victory of Eagles' by Naomi Novik.

Bunny: A Novel

It is better than listening to the crap on YT, but it's meh. Perhaps it isn't the book but rather than genre of book. (?) I've tried dark academia a few times now; all the stories sound the same.

Some creepy school
Usually there are occults of some sort
Some kind of cult
There is always a underdog who wants to be break free from cult

It is time to put dark academia away at least for the time being.

Lost on Venus - Edgar Rice Burroughs. Having just finished the first book in the series, Pirates of Venus, I am re-reading the adventures of Carson Napier, being in the mood for some escapist high adventure on alien planets. And although I have often re-read the adventures of John Carter on Barsoom (Mars) I haven't re-visited Amtor (Venus) for a good many years. Sadly there were only four completed books, the fifth volume (Wizard of Venus) remaining unfinished when ERB died. I was eager for more, and I have often speculated what the further adventures Carson, his friend Ero Shan, and the beautiful princess Duare might have been. I once considered continuing the tale myself, just for my own amusement. but the task defeated me. I could imitate Burrough's style very well, but I am not possessed with half his imagination, or his talent for creating strange and often bizarre alien creatures and peoples.

I'm almost done with Timothy Ferriss "The 4-hour body", a book I bought like ten years ago when I had other ambitions than now.
Despite the "don't read this book from front to back"-appeal in the introduction, I did just that. The book is funny sometimes and a lot of work out data.
I haven't been to the library in a long time and I'm starting to run low on books to read. (Probably gonna tackle "the hitchhiker's guide to the galaxy" before that, if I can find my trashy, obsolete-from-the-library copy in the basement. (Yes, it's the version with all the five books in one...))

Just finished "Twelve months" by Jim Butcher (Dresden files). Don't want to spoil anything for anyone who hasn't come that far into the series or may want to pick it up at some point, but it's one of those books that makes you feel all the feels. pretty much every single one of them. The book reminded me (again) why I love this series so much.

Hunting Adeline by H.D Carlton

I read Haunting Adeline last year. I said I wasn't going to read Hunting Adeline because the first one was creepy AF. The creepy part isn't a lie, but not reading the second one clearly is as it was part of a gift card spend this afternoon. I'm going to regret it, but sometimes you just have go there. If stores can have Christmas crap out already, I can read a creepy book before Halloween.

If I get too creeped out, the other book I bought is Startup Hell by Caitlin Rozakis. I read Dreadful by the same author last year. It was a fun read, so hopefully this one will be just as much a good time.
