You know nothing of...JAVERT!!!

Date Posted: 22nd Oct 2010 at 11:04 AM

I've had this sitting on my hard drive for a while now - one of the first things I ever planned to make for my Sims! It took me a while whilst I learned how to texture so it didn't look horrible and blurry, but here we go - a MALE Musical Sim, as made by moi! Perfect for all your gloomy obsessed police inspector needs, with any luck. I'll get round to submitting this some time this weekend....

Still working on Anna Karenina, worse luck. I've got a lot of essay deadlines coming up in early November, so my halloween isn't as nearly as Sim filled as I'd like! It needs some serious reworking on the neckline, but I'll try and have another stab at that before Christmas -there's just not enough time for Sims, far as I'm concerned!

Wardrobe Mistress' Sketches: Projects, Present and Future!

Date Posted: 13th Jul 2010 at 2:01 PM

Hi there! Long time, no outfits, alas, from your friendly neighbourhood movie-costume crazed Sim creator. Summer holidays mean career planning, dissertation research, holidays, general laziness - you know. The usual! But that doesn't mean I haven't been making clothes for Sims, or making plans...

'Sissi', Empress of Austria-Hungary. This one seems a little off the wall for me, don't you think? For a consistent musical obsessive? Well, guess again! Inspired by the fabulous German musical 'Elisabeth', I've made a version of the coronation gown.

I'd say that if you like gothic musicals with a pinch of darkness and a large helping of romance, you'll like this musical. Gorgeous costumes all the way through, lovely songs - and even if you don't speak German (I don't, worse luck, but I managed to get a translation of the libretto online that gave me the gist of the plot), you're sure to enjoy it nonetheless. Plus, need I add, there's a rather Phantom-like figure of a handsome blonde Death who keeps things interesting? I've made a stab at making an outfit for him too...

That's all for now! I'll post later with some Phantom goodness, plus a surprise movie costume appearance will hopefully be arrrrsome.

Wardrobe Mistress' Sketches:Phantom Movie Wishing Gown Project

Now, this is something I've wanted to make for a long time - ever since I first got into Phantom, in fact! Way back in 2004 when I was a little fifteen-year old, the movie blew me away - to the extent I enviously slavered over Emmy Rossum's costume wardobe for hours on end. Whilst I'm never going to develop fiendish costuming skills of my own to enable me to actually wear gorgeous things like this, it did occur to me to have a go at making my own 'Sim' version now I've developed in confidence (and got better at recolouring - there were some abominations of disfigured recolours lurking in a lair of their own on my hard drive) I had a go at making Emmy Rossum's gorgeous black velvet dress from the Graveyard scene:

Isn't she pretty? I was also inspired by the awesome sets and lots a lot of talented creators here have made of the snowy graveyard for this scene. But - no outfits! What's a desolate young ingenue to do for unusually revealing mourning gowns? How are we to visit our dear departed father's grave and be seduced by masked villains when there's nothing to wear?
So, without further ado, here's my first (VERY) clumsy attempt:

*winces* Awful, isn't it?
This is one thing I love about Mod The Sims - they give you helpful advice and feedback on your creations. I didn't make this that long ago, but I can already see a lot that's wrong with it. Makes me shudder to own I made it! But there you go. Feedback and helpful directions make better stuff, and my second attempt (fingers crossed) already looks a lot better as a result of Faylen's awesome tutorials!

Love to hear from anyone here who likes musicals and my stuff! I'd also absolutely LOVE it if anyone fancies using my costumes in a video - I have absolutely zero movie-making skills myself, so i'd love to hear from people who like to make movies/Sim Stories, etc...
All Phans welcome!
