Getting back into it... a little.

Date Posted: 8th Oct 2014 at 3:25 AM

OK, so forgive my disappearance this last year or so. It seems to have done me a little bit of good though because I feel more inclined to work on that huge Wall-paint collection I started ages ago. I might still pare it down a little... but I am back to working on it again. Its the only working I seem to be doing right now... the temp agencies have thrown me a bone or two. Nothing permanent yet, but I have gathered experience so trying to stay positive and just move forward.

Funny that I'm going to so much effort for the S2 game when they just came out with S4, but as long as there is interest I'll keep making stuff.

Still Kickin

Date Posted: 12th Dec 2013 at 6:54 PM

Im still around. I got into actual playing for now. I still don't know what to do with that huge wall/floor collection so its back burner'd still. Ive sort of lost interest. Still haven't found work and its starting to really depress me. 7 months without a job and Im starting to panic. I took a trip with my boyfriend to Tennessee a little while ago and saw some very pretty houses. I want to try creating them in game and if I can get something good and playable Ill upload them. No other ideas for recolors are really hitting me right now. Maybe a darker set of those lipglosses I submitted a little while ago. I like the light ones, but they are a little too light for the darker skintones. Any way Im not done, just trying to get my life back together and all that.

Real Life Bites! Hard!

Date Posted: 22nd May 2013 at 10:37 PM

So, yeah, that big collection of walls & floors... its still there, waiting to be finished. I mostly just have to take in-game shots of all of them. I don't know how Im going to arrange these shots. I also wish I knew how to put them in a collection so people dont have to flip thru tons of wallpaints just to find the one they want to use. The organization method in the game leaves much to be desired.

So, why do I say real life bites? It does! I made a mistake at work and lost my job... then the very next day I lost my bank card somewhere in the middle of nearly a dozen errands. Who knows where I actually lost it. Had a HUGE fight with my boyfriend, nearly moved out, after a couple days of giving each other space we had a long talk and things are ok again. I need to find a new job FAST! The stress is just eating me alive. Also did you know that it hurts like HADES to get acrylic nails removed?! I had them removed yesterday and my nails still hurt! Until I get a new job they were a luxury I can't afford right now.

So I am still creating and building stuff in my game, you all will see it eventually. I just have to reorganize my priorities for a little while. Ill be around.

Why do I bother?

Date Posted: 14th Apr 2013 at 12:21 AM

So Im working on this HUGE wallpaint set right? 20 colors, 4 wood trim options, 4 woodtone options and the basic painted wall adds up to 340 wallpaints.

Add in 12 wood floors, and 20 matching berber carpets.

Ive gotten lots of positive feedback in the create forum, yes they are pretty, yes matching carpets would be awesome... groovy!

So now comes the problems. How do I upload this monster? I plan to start with the basic (no trim) walls and the matching carpets. Then I will upload the rest separated by woodtone. So that helps break up the bigness... but... If I follow the very specific uploading rules I need to have an IN-Game screenshot of every item in my upload. That's a lot of pictures.

PLUS now I have someone pointing out that having their build mode catalog stuffed with 340 wallpaints would be difficult to leaf thru all the time. So I ask if anyone knows how to create a Collection File with these walls that can keep the congestion out of the catalog... Nothing...

No answer on what to do about screenshots... no answer on making a collection file.... just nothing.... so there is the reason for the title of this rant... Anyone care? *crickets chirping* Didn't think so! Taking a break... maybe Ill come back and finish this mess next year! Im over it!

More Madness... or am I just tired?

Date Posted: 4th Apr 2013 at 12:38 AM

So building plans continue, one more apartment submitted and waiting for it to show up in the downloads. Another apartment lot giving me all sorts of trouble. After DAYS making it just perfect its buggy. Its supposed to be 3 condos based off Don Lothario's house. I made a few changes to the landscaping because my "score" is always low on stuff like terrain paint and decorations, exit the lot and for some reason its saying there are only 2 apartments not 3 and all the sudden the rent is like $6000! So its on hold until I can calm down and keep myself from just bulldozing the whole thing.

Im splitting my time between building another Colonial style apartment and working on another project brought on by all my recent building activity. The fact that there are few matching walls & floors in the bare bones game and what IS in the game has holes in it too!

So Im doing a painted wall & floor set based off the Beachy Keen walls, filling in the gaps in the "set" and adding a range of other basic colors. So I've come up with approx 25 colors that I want to use, and Im doing them in the White wood, Light wood, Medium wood that are already in the game and adding a Dark wood to it, because the game has Dark wood with that awful Paste paint but not with Beach Keen. So... yes thats 100 different colors, with 10 different walls per color to cover all the trim options... whew maybe I need to rethink the number of colors Im going to do?

EDIT: OK, I trimmed down my wall & floor set. Now its about 15 colors and only 5 trim options and Im not filling any gaps in the existing Beachy Keen, they are just fine... so its still a huge number of wallpapers but my feeling is I won't need much else with these in my game. :lovestruc

What am I doing?

Date Posted: 29th Mar 2013 at 8:12 PM

Ive never made use of the journal feature before but I think it can help me focus my ideas if I put them in black & white.

So what am I doing?

For the moment I am biding my time while I wait for my new computer to be ordered and shipped. My old desktop computer (which I loved and will miss dearly) was stolen. So waiting for insurance and then I get a new shiny desktop computer. Until then I am using my laptop to keep myself busy and try to avoid Sims withdrawals.

So with the limited capacity of my Laptop I have continued a project I began with my Myrtlewood Duplex.

I was frustrated by the lack of small apartment complexes. 4 or less. My project is to provide a wider availability of apartments from small studios to larger 8 person habitations. I thought the housing in my neighborhoods needed to have a more realistic progression to them. In Sims its too easy in a regular lot to build on to the house to make room for a growing family. In RL that doesn't really happen. A family grows out of the house/apartment they are in and are forced to move to a larger place. Or empty-nesters get tired of maintaining a large home and decide to downsize. Its more natural.

So my project at this time is to build a wide variety of Duplexes, Triplexes, Condos, and Apartment houses, both classical and modern to fill the needs of any family as their housing requirements change.

I am taking inspiration from existing lots in Pleasantview: see my PV Mobile Home park and hopefully soon my Main Street Condos.

Other inspiration is coming from floorplan sites: See my Colonial Apartment Houses I and soon II.

And my own life as I grew up in a neighborhood with many duplexes like the previously mentioned Myrtlewood Duplex.
