This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Custom Fireplaces- After Reinstall
I am experiencing a problem I've never seen before. I just got a new laptop after maybe ten years or so, and so I had to reinstall my game. I COMPLETELY didn't realize Scriptorium files aren't saved in Downloads, and when I noticed that I was missing modular stairs, I had to go back to my old computer, dig out my Scriptorium files, and move those over.

However, I am also noticing that in my Fireplaces section in Build Mode, I have several "duplicate" Fireplaces. As in, same thumbnail, same description, and literally the same fireplace when I place them, and the duplicates not only also have chimneys, but they don't have custom content stars.

I assume they must be custom content cloned from the OG Fireplaces and something went awry? I made a small empty lot, placed every fireplace that had a duplicate, packaged it, and examined with Clean Installer. I do have two downloaded Fireplaces show up, and lots of recolors.

At this point I am completely stumped. Anyone have some good advice for me? I've attached a couple of photos.

As an addendum to the information shown in Clean Installer, both of those custom fireplaces that got bundled with the lot DO show up in my game. They're in Buy Mode, Decorative, Misc, along with SEVERAL other downloaded fireplaces.

I'm not sure if anything is missing or the game has just made duplicates.

Check your fireplaces script too (it's in the same place as the stairs script). Does it have duplicates?

Thank you, I have that open now. For manual add, I have fireplace 75 (BTX Centerpiece Fireplace created by Brasstex).

In the folder Scriptorium_Fireplaces, 68 (TS3 Colonial Fireplace) and 99 (CTN's Colonial Fireplace).

OHHH. Would it make sense for there to be a scripts file in every expansion and pack folder?

SP8 Fireplace Script file lists 8, stove romantic, and SP9 Fireplace Script File also lists 8, stove romantic. That's as far as I've looked.

Make sure that you have the right package file to match each script entry, or else remove the script entry.

If you are using scriptorium, you don't want to edit any of the scripts in any of the ep's/sp's. Check the custom fireplaces you have to see if they need a script, not all do, put those script files in the fireplaces scriptorium folder.

Okay, I figured out the duplicates issue. I'm a ding dong, and I'd literally copied all the files from the base game folder over to the Fun With Pets folder. Two identical fireplaces files means two identical sets of the base game fireplaces.

However, in my attempts to clean up this mess, I had to reinstall the game, reinstall the Scriptorium, and now the CTN fireplace and the TS3 Colonial are not showing up. The Brasstex fireplace is. Furthermore, none of the modular stairs are showing up either. I'm not sure if I should be laughing or crying right now.

You mention installing scriptorium, but it also sounds like you are editing all the og script files and copying the contents to others?

If using scriptorium, all you do is put the txt file in the folder - accessed via the shortcuts in your downloads folder - and then put the package in your downloads folder.

The modular stairs not showing up means the scriptorium didn't install correctly or you are missing one/both of the modular stairs files.

I had only ever edited one script file, for the Brasstex fireplace that didn't come with its own file, and may even predate the Scriptorium. But after reinstalling my game, and the Scriptorium, neither fireplaces nor stairs were showing up until I manually added all the individual texts into the scripts. At this point, it appears everything is showing up. Not sure why the Scriptorium isn't working now. It's never given me an issue in all these years. Just checking to see if it properly installed the Radiant lighting now.
