HomeCrafter problem
When I run the program, the floors and walls are black. Even if I try using other images, they still look black
Does anyone know how to fix it?

Are you saving the images as a 24-bit .bmp file?

I've made some mods for The Sims 1 -- yes, The Sims ONE :-) -- which you can find at http://corylea.com/Sims1ModsByCorylea.html

I think I had this issue in certain compatibility modes. Maybe try a different compatibility mode than you're currently using?

That screenshot is from when I opened the program without doing anything

I tried:
Run as administrator
Windows XP compatibility
16-bit color

but it didn't work

It turns out I can't figure out if that's actually what fixed mine... I can't find evidence Homecrafter was ever on my system (even though I KNOW it was), the zip I have for it is not cooperating if I try to run it, and the one I CAN find (the earlier "HomeMaster" version from July 1999) I cannot trigger this issue no matter how I set the compatibility settings. So while I KNOW I've seen this behavior, I can't remember what triggered it for sure OR what fixed it...

I checked my HomeCrafter. I'm running in Windows XP Service Pack 2, AND 16-bit color AND as an administrator on HomeCrafter version 2.0.0.0.

I have a copy of d3drm.dll that I downloaded in order to make it run. Do you have that?

Try to download the DDrawCompat file and place it in the HomeCrafter folder. Maybe it helps. The DDrawCompat file is here: https://github.com/narzoul/DDrawCompat/releases
