This overrides a pair of XMLs pertaining to plants and ingredients. This will conflict with any mod relating to these files. As far as I can tell, there are none yet.

Why yes there are: The Cooking And Ingredients Overhaul mod http://www.modthesims.info/download.php?t=353351, Children can garden mod, and Gardening is fun mod. The first one even adds 4 new ingredients to be planted and a lot of other ones unplantable.
But having roast plants and links plants is very interesting so I hope it won't conflict and that the plant names will be corrected

BTW I love the pic!

Children can garden mod, and Gardening is fun mod are action mods and not object mods, so as far as I know they shouldn't conflict.

Also, to give your plants custom names: New books?. That's how I gave custom names to mine , make sure to read to the end.

It doesn't seems to work properly. My Sim has the 10th level of Gardening, didn't fill the first and second opportunity that unlocks specials plants, can harvest Chesse, Steaks, Patties and Eggs, but cannot plant Links and Roasts. I download and install the "No Opportunity" version.
Is something wrong with the mod ? I check for conflicts but it seems to be no one.

Well i tried both versions - both with sims who have done all the opportunitys and sims who have done none.
I tried removing ALL other mods and yet they CANT plant these!

Something is sadly not working.

This mod is most likely not compatable with those mods because of the way they change it. They all change the Gardening XML file unless this mod doesn't

Sorry I haven't responded yet, I was busy at work.

At the time I posted this, none of the mods should have conflicted. However, I saw that ingredient mod come up and knew it would conflict, but I couldn't edit the thread while it was in the moderator queue. I have updated the thread to note possible conflicts.

BlackCat007: Thanks for the link, I'll check it out and hopefully update this.

timoram26 & Zirimor: I've tested this with sims who have and don't have opportunities, as well as loading an old game and starting a new one. They all seem to work fine for me. It's a very simple XML override, there's very little that can go wrong besides conflicts with other mods that use the same XML files.

bigotbi: Rocks and Gems are actually housed in a completely separate XML file, I doubt I can turn them into a PlantableIngredient without stomping on the gemstone code (thus making them useless). What I'm looking to do is make it so you can put them in Omni-Plants.

Uhm sad to say, but then i will live without, as i will rather have the ingredient mod...
It bring soo much to the game.
I would however be very happy if you guys could work out a way for those two to work togheter... Sadly i am too much of a noob to do it myself.
*Crosses fingers its doable*

I have to agree with Zirimor. Is there some way to make this compatible with the ingredient overhaul mod? Me hopes so....

Which one? The one that adds a whole bunch of new ingredients I can't do anything about. The one that makes plants survive longer and produce more ingredients? I can do that, it's a simple enough tweak to my mod. However, I can't make it "compatible", I have to actually add it to my mod.
Generally I prefer to only remove annoyances, not mess with game balance like that. I work in the industry myself and see the work that goes into balancing games, so I don't like to throw that out. That's also why I don't do complex mods, I'm a bit busy working on games I'm getting paid for.

But, if there are enough people that want that I suppose I can put in the game balance breaking changes as an additional option in my mod.

Same as any other. Click on the Links or Roast ingredient, and there should be a "plant" and "plant many" options. They should be there so long as you have any gardening skill with the no opportunities version, but if you don't have 7 it will be grayed out. If you have the normal version, you won't see the plant options until you do the opportunity to get the ability to plant meat.

Also, sometimes you need to buy a new ingredient from the store to get the options. My guess is your inventory saves the Plant_Name parameter and so it doesn't think it has a plant unless you buy a new one.
That's somewhat odd, though, because I swear I tested using a Roast and Links ingredient that was already in my inventory, but now I'm sometimes not getting the option from those I had before adding the mod.

If you're not seeing it, you probably have a conflicting mod.

OK, the plants now have proper names. I have also included a pair of "forever" options so that plants will "never" go barren. I haven't tested those thoroughly yet, but they seem to work.

Also, you should purchase new ingredients from the store to make sure they are properly up to date and not under the influence of previous mods.
If you were using my mod and decide to use the standard, non-forever mod, this is unnecessary. Just download the new release and the text will update automatically.
If you were using my mod or anyone else's and decide to use the forever mod, you will likely need to buy new ingredients.
If you decide to switch from opportunities to no opportunities, or vice versa, you will likely need to buy new ingredients.

Thankyou for this great mod.. this is something EA should have included in the first place

One of my sims got the wish to cook hotdogs with perfect ingredients which by default is impossible to fullfill, now theres a chance thanks to this.

Hi! Thank you for the mod, and your hard work.
However it doesn't have any effect on my game. My death flower bushes keep dieing after the second revival, and my gardener sim cannot plant the newly bought roasts and links, I have been using the one with the opportunity fulfilled. Also the Stone mod checker doesn't report back any problems, and it is installed correctly. I thought it was a wonderful idea though.

does this work with the new patch?

The Bible contains 6 admonishments to homosexuals and 362 admonishments to heterosexuals. That doesn't mean that God doesn't love heterosexuals. It's just that they need more supervision. - L. Lavner

As of 1.4, this mod doesn't totally work for me. It's the only one concerning gardening that I have installed, though I also have the buyable flame and life fruit and buy all fish mods. With a sim that has completed no Gardening opportunities, I was able to plant eggs, cheese, steak, and hamburger, but not links or roasts.
