Wednesday (USA, 2022– )
This Netflix series puts the spotlight on Wednesday Addams (Jenna Ortega) as she navigates life at Nevermore Academy—basically a gothic Hogwarts for weird kids. With her signature deadpan wit, she investigates a string of murders, uncovers family secrets, and reluctantly forms friendships.

Visually stylish and packed with creepy fun, the show blends mystery, supernatural drama, and dark comedy. Jenna Ortega absolutely nails the role, stealing every scene with her razor-sharp delivery and killer dance moves (yes, that scene).

My comment: Spooky, smart, and surprisingly heartfelt. A fresh twist on a classic character—Wednesday slays (literally and figuratively).

Stranger Things (USA, 2016– )
Set in the 1980s, Stranger Things kicks off in the small town of Hawkins where a kid mysteriously disappears—and what follows is a wild mix of secret labs, creepy monsters from the Upside Down, and a girl with psychic powers named Eleven (Millie Bobby Brown). With each season, the stakes get higher, the monsters get weirder, and the friendships grow deeper.

The series is a love letter to '80s pop culture, packed with nostalgia, killer music, and a balance of heart, horror, and sci-fi adventure. The young cast is genuinely fantastic, and the story keeps you hooked with every twist.

My comment: A thrilling mix of supernatural mystery and retro vibes. It's like The Goonies meets X-Files, and somehow even cooler.

Rating: 9/10

The Witcher (USA/Poland, 2019– )
Based on the books and games, The Witcher follows Geralt of Rivia (Henry Cavill), a monster-hunting mutant with a dry sense of humor and a big sword. Set in a gritty fantasy world full of magic, politics, and moral gray zones, the show mixes epic battles with deep lore.

The timelines can be a bit confusing at first, but the action, strong characters (shoutout to Yennefer and Jaskier), and haunting atmosphere make it super watchable. Plus, that "Toss a Coin" song? Total banger.

My comment: Dark, badass, and full of twisted magic. Even if you don’t know the source material, it’s easy to get hooked.

The Boys (USA, 2019– )
Imagine superheroes were real—and total jerks. That’s the world of The Boys, where a ragtag team of nobodies sets out to expose the corrupt, dangerous "heroes" controlled by a shady mega-corporation. It’s violent, smart, and super cynical—in a good way.

Homelander is one of the scariest TV characters ever, and the show is full of shock moments and biting satire about fame, politics, and power. Not for the faint of heart, but totally gripping.

My comment: Twisted, brutal, and way too real. Like Avengers if they were all psychopaths and the internet was even worse.

Sniper (1993) 6/10

I've seen it a few times before and like the movie. Nothing really wow about it but its mostly decent.

I dont remember the actors looking so sweaty before?? Might be an old and forgotten action movie trend since charaters now somehow always look perfect no matter what happens to them during the movie

One of the better productions focusing on realism without going into overkill. Dirty Brooklyn; the city that never sleeps.

Zeitgeist (2007): Explore contrary perspectives on everyday cultural issues in this documentary devoted to mythology, belief, and conspiracy in society today.
My Comment: The "everyday cultural issues" explored are these three: First, the origin of religion, concentrating on Christianity, which I think is excellent. Second, the events of September 11, 2001, which was put together mostly by people who mean well but are wrong about how the entire WTC complex was destroyed (all 7 buildings, not just 1, 2, and 7). Third, the workings of the Federal Reserve System and Income Tax, which is also excellent.
Everyone should watch this.

Hot Shots! (USA, 1991)
A hilarious spoof of Top Gun, this movie stars Charlie Sheen as the absurdly skilled but troubled pilot Topper Harley, flying into a world full of over-the-top gags, sight jokes, and ridiculous one-liners. Everything is exaggerated, nothing is sacred, and the comedy just keeps coming.

It’s peak early-'90s parody—with absurd scenarios, goofy sound effects, and nonstop laughs. If you like Airplane!, you’ll feel right at home.

My comment: Silly, sharp, and packed with classic gags. A must for fans of dumb (but smart) comedy.

Rating: 8/10

Hot Shots! Part Deux (USA, 1993)
The sequel cranks the chaos to 11, this time spoofing Rambo and action flicks in general. Topper’s back, shirtless, oiled up, and throwing punches (and puns) left and right in the most absurd rescue mission ever.

It’s blood, explosions, and jokes flying everywhere, with a surprising amount of political satire mixed in for good measure. Some say it’s even funnier than the first one.

My comment: Parody perfection. Think Rambo on laughing gas—plus the best “body count” gag ever.
