I have so many amazing ones but I recently started using the 3t2 traits system and it feels like I can flesh out the sims even more than before, I love it.

Piqiwi's more walkbys + Cars pass by- a tunable mod to have more sims walk by your lots, and also cars can drive past too. Somehow makes the lot seem more alive, I love to invite walkbys in to have a party!

I'm afraid that my favourite mod is still Squinge's No More Fires, as it has been for over ten years now. It gives me total peace of mind every time my Sims go to prepare some food; I know I'm not going to watch a friend burn to death! Which, quite honestly is one of the worst things I can imagine. If something like that happened in a film I was watching, I'd simply shut my eyes till that scene was over. But The Sims is interactive: So I'd feel it was my duty to try save my friend. What I think I fear most is pulling out all the stops to try to save my Sim, and then failing. That means failing a friend whom I love, in a matter of life and death. I think that would leave me feeling devastated and empty. I've done my best but it wasn't good enough. And if my best isn't good enough, then I'm not good enough -- I'm not up to it. Maybe I don't deserve to have friends. . . ?

I know things like can happen in real life, and The Sims is life simulation. And in real life these things have to be worked through. But honestly I play The Sims for relaxation and for fun -- not to torture myself! And the chances of Sims starting a kitchen fire and burning to death are much, much higher than in real life. In real life I've burned food thousands of times. But I've never yet set the kitchen on fire -- far less burned myself to death in the ensuing conflagration.

I have lots of other mods that add to my enjoyment of the game, and most of them add to my Sims' enjoyment too. But the sheer peace of mind that No More Fires gives me makes it still my favourite! It sets me free to enjoy the game!!

[EDIT] I might try Piqiwi's more walkbys + Cars pass by mod, if it wasn't for my Sims' love of kissing each other in the middle of the road!!

Talking about kissing, another mod that adds a lot of fun to my game is BoilingOil's social Kiss Cheek. It has a very easy acceptance -- much lower than Friendly Hug. It's what makes my Sims quite so touchy feely. I don't kiss my friends every time we meet, but my Sims do, and I have to say I rather like the idea of a community where everybody kisses everybody else. It makes for real community spirit!!

All Sims are beautiful -- even the ugly ones.

Community lot skilling.

I like some others too, but this is the one that changed the way I play completely.

simler90's Romantic Standards. It has an endless feature list so I don't know 100% of its functionalities, but I know what it does in broad strokes, and it has completely changed the game for me. Romance feels much more immersive now, no more immediate love with your best friend after you flirted once, sometimes relationships just aren't meant to be. Sorry Justin, Tara only sees you as a friend.

Nice Rachel we're having.

@Yvelotic2001 I have tried many times to read that and figure out exactly what it is that the mod does, but honestly that documentation is a mess.

I have also been considering it. It does seem as if a lot of simmers honestly like it.

I recently discovered TwoJeffs visitor controller and for the moment, it's my favorite.
And I also need to make an honorable mention about simler90:s food mod, I really needed that pizza

My personal favorite is Christianlov's sim controller mirror.
I've tried to not use it but I just can't break the habit. It's too bad that one of the menu items, "Sleep in single bed" does not work even with the pixel and a single bed. Otherwise it's fine.

Essentially it changes the entire romance system of the game. It changes the checks for autonomous behaviour, acceptance of romantic socials and jealousy, as well as fixing some Maxis bugs, like the romantic socials introduced in Nightlife not having proper jealousy code. I recommend reading the original description, it explains the general purpose of the mod. Most updates are just bug fixes or minor changes to specific thresholds, so you don't have to pay much attention to those. There is an add-on related to autonomous actions but updates related to the add-on are always in bold so they're easy to track. There's not much point in trying to go over the specifics, nor would I even be able to explain them, so I think it's better if I give concrete examples of how it impacted my game.

- Tara deBateau and Justin Cleveland were best friends, 100/100 STR/LTR. In an unmodded game, this all but guarantees they will fall in love if you want them to, they just need to flirt once even though their chemistry isn't very good. With Romantic Standards, Tara rejected every single advance Justin tried to make (poor thing has countless "First Kiss Rejected By Tara" memories). One-sided crushes are very much a thing: Justin had a crush on Tara, but Tara didn't have a crush on Justin.
- Justin and a dormie had a casual thing going on, nothing steady but they were sort of dating. Flirting, kissing, making out, just not woohoo. One day something changed, possibly someone gained one too many skill points and the chemistry changed, I can't quite know for sure, but the dormie started rejecting Justin's romantic socials, to the point they were permanently broken up. Their STR/LTR took a hit, their crushes disappeared, and without chemistry they could not (and in fact did not) get back together. And would you know it, soon after Justin rolled the want to fall in love with Tara, again.
- Ashley Pitts woohoo'd half the Sim State University female population without having to fall in love with any of them. Casual woohoo is very much possible, all that is needed is chemistry. The love flag certainly helps, but high enough chemistry is all that is needed for woohoo.
- Conversely, low enough chemistry means woohoo becomes much more difficult no matter how much you are able to make out. Geoff Rutherford and Chastity Gere were unable to fulfill their wants of woohooing as many sims as possible, they would woohoo with each other regularly but everyone else rejected them. Eventually Chastity got pregnant and they settled for each other.

Justin Cleveland and Brittany Upsnott falling in love with each other is the highlight of the mod for me. Justin had been hung up on Tara for ages, Brittany could barely date anyone, let alone woohoo. They met at a Tri-Var party and hit it off, woohoo'd that night and went on a date the next day. 2 years later they're happily together, Brittany living with her "parents" (ahem, some creative liberties were taken with this one as University sims obviously don't have parents in the main neighbourhood) until Justin finishes his degree and they both move in together.

It's a struggle. Lots of updates overwrite previous functionalities of the mod itself, the best example being fireplaces. In some older update sitting close to fireplaces would lower the threshold for certain behaviours, but that was removed at least partially. I'm not sure if currently fireplaces do anything lol, but I guess that's also part of the charm.

If you don't want to have any idea why two Sims romantic interactions (or lack thereof) take place and want to blindly follow Simler90's hazy descriptions and romantic perceptions, then Romantic Standards may work for you.

I installed a relatively early version and for the life of me could not understand why two Sims with great relationships, high chemistry and attraction could not hook up. I felt they were meant for each other, but Romantic Standards said no without explanation. I grew frustrated with not understanding what the mod allowed and didn't allow, and ended up removing it. That was probably 100 updates ago so perhaps it's better, but perhaps it isn't...

The early versions had bugs that were fixed in later updates, it could be the case something didn't quite work. Or maybe it was intended behaviour, Romantic Standards, despite all the chemistry stuff, is chance-based. Sims have a chance of just never engaging. Or maybe it was even one of those mysterious features buried deep in some update.

Not knowing the exact inner workings of the mod makes it more immersive to me, I feel less like an omniscient god and more like I'm just following these sims' stories. Sometimes relationships just never happen, even if two people would be a perfect fit, because of happenstance, and that's fine. Sometimes two sims just aren't meant to be. That's life. (that's life)

I don't disagree. We all play differently and I, as my Sims omniscient overlord, believe I know better what's best for them than Romantic Standards does. If others feel not knowing is more immersive for their gameplay, then more power to them!

A couple of years ago I was vaguely thinking about getting a new mod to replace Pescado's Romance Mod which I'd used for about ten years. But then I felt it was taken out of my hands. Andrew told me, very strongly backed up by Julian, to get a "no jealousy at all" mod so that they could include Jack Gill in their hitherto monogamous relationship. I tried some more subtle solutions, but none of them worked satisfactorily, so in the end I gave in and got LizzLove's no-jealousy-at-all mod . I don't know about it being my favourite mod, but it very much changes the way The Sims 2 plays; Andrew and Julian like it, and Jack's quite happy with it too. So it does seem to be a favourite mod of some of my favourite Sims. I shouldn't have favourites though, should I? But maybe that's just another example of how unsatisfactory my character is! And how unfit I am to tell my Sims how to run their lives!

Most of my Sims seem to have more or less satisfactory romantic relationships, which help to give meaning and pleasure to their lives. I, on the other hand, have never been in such a relationship, certainly never one that was acknowledged as such by the other person. So maybe I should just accept that my Sims know more about romance than I do. Their "omniscient overlord"? I don't think so! At best I think of myself as a fellow player with them in the Great Game of Life.

I suppose it does me good when Andrew occasionally reminds me just who's in charge.

The latest ones I'm pretty hyped about are the 'changing into a towel after a shower/bath' by epi and 'laundry add-on' by gummi - but my sister gets so mad because she tells me I don't do laundry in real life so asks why am I making my sims do it. Hey! hey...this game is for doing things you wouldn't do in real life. (I DO laundry but it's like...months in between, because I have a lot of clothes)

Uh oh! My social bar is low - that's why I posted today.

Two mods are among my favorites right now. One is Espresso Machine and Barista Improvements, which I downloaded here and makes the whole experience of coffee on community lots so much better. I love watching the nonplayables on the lot buy each other coffee.

The other--I'm not sure the name of it, but I know someone on here recommended it to me, and it has my Sims autonomously come home from work with groceries or a pizza.

Not a mod exactly, but I finally started using ACR and I love seeing what's going on in the background when I take my Sims to community lots. My neighbourhoods have never had this much drama!

Every mod in my downloads folder that I use when I use to play, all 350Mb worth.
The largest one is Maxis Match adult skins.

Sadly I have not been able to play in several years.
If I really have to choose just one then "PETS AWAY SIGN" at simlogical.
