Default Househunting? The Search is OVER!
Yes! The househunting is finally over when you get the keys of a new-build Jones & Moltke house in Monopolis.

Monopolis, the brainchild of inspired financier Milburn Pennybags, who lives in Monopolis himself, is a young, vibrant, forward-looking community, only a short free taxi ride from Veronaville, with its famous downtown nightlife clubs. Choosing a Jones & Moltke house in Monopolis makes you part of this community.

Our houses are traditionally built by the best craftsmen and -women, but modern and comfortable. Modern, but with a hint of old Veronavillesque charm. We specialise in building affordable attractive value-for-money homes. Managing Director Andrew Jones-Moltke says, "In some parts of the world there are developers who complain about planners who make them include 10-15% 'affordable' homes in their developments, and keep pressing the planners to drop or reduce this requirement. I totally disagree with these developers; at Jones & Moltke we only build affordable homes. I can't see any point at all in building unaffordable houses. I mean if nobody can afford them, how are we going to sell them? All our houses are affordable."

So why not visit our site sales office in Old Kent Road, Monopolis?

Jones & Moltke Site Office, Old Kent Road, Monopolis (by Veronaville)

Telephone Monopolis 53104, or email sales@jones_moltke.co.ve . Our reps there Mallory and Keith will be delighted to meet you and talk over your requirements. We are confident that we can build something for you that meets both your needs and your purse. We look forward to meeting you.

(The water visible next door is part of Julian's "Water Hole" swimming pool just for local teens and children.)

Here are some recent homes that we've built for our discerning clients:

5 Whitechapel Road, Monopolis. Built for single teenager Dylan Cooney.

24 Pall Mall, Monopolis. We built this house for Gareth Junor and his teenage son Henry.

106 Pall Mall, Monopolis. This is the house we built recently for teenager Zara Higgins, and her two adopted children Ursula and Alan.

Monopolis really is a young community. There is only one adult (Gareth Junor) in the four properties illustrated. Even our two site reps Mallory and Keith (who live in a flat at the back of the office) are teens.

Ponoma Gardens

A small community garden out by the farm. Named after the Roman goddess of fruit, don't be afraid to pick the fruit off of these trees! There's no one here to judge you for that!

Not much in it so far, just a few of the key community lots and a couple of houses. It's purely Maxis so a bit basic!

Loving! This could tie in with Nekojima and Sinsan!

Just make sure to use Chris Hatch's lot cleaner globe. While I did clean it up prior to completing it, but it really can't hurt to have the lot cleaned a second time.

You are free to use it as you like! You don't even need to credit me!

@HarVee I wasn't actually planning to extract it, just get a little inspiration since I don't have much experience in building houses with that type of roof and I need to see how others do it to see how to do it xD. But it would be great if you could help me with the construction of a lot later, as long as you have free time. :D

I still have to build a few castles for Aberon Garden and it's going to be quite a challenge because I've never built one, so I'll have to search Google photos to see if I can find something similar to what I'm looking for. And then there is the project to build a university, in which I would love for you and @simsample to participate, and also everyone who wants to participate, it will be a community project. :D

I'd love to participate in that. Sounds like it'd be a lot of fun! I've never built a castle in TS2 either, but I imagine a lot of the tips and tricks I know regarding building will come into use. Just let me know when you're ready and what EP/SP content I'm allowed to use.

I've been working on a new project recently. Well, I'm actually going back to an ongoing project, my own custom university, except I was feeling uninspired for the university buildings themselves, so I decided to change things up and instead go for one of the leisure buildings I had planned. After a lot of fiddling with CFE and GridAdjuster (and finding myself surprised at how I managed to get it to work, lol), I have a basic shell for this nightclub ready. There's still a lot to do here but I'm liking things so far. Once again, the big Maxis lot sizes are either way too big and completely unusable for your average build or way too small when you actually need them. In an ideal world I would have like 10 or 20 more tiles in depth, but this is already the biggest lot possible.

There's one tiny problem though. There is no vanilla lamp that achieves what I want, but there's this one CC lamp I have that brings my exact vision to life. I really wanted to keep this hood CC-free to eventually share it, but this is almost a deal breaker. Just look at how it looks with and without that lamp.

@Yvelotic2001 : I like the idea of sharing lots (and 'hoods) CC-free, but sometimes there are one or two pieces of CC which are really needed to make the lot work. I think this lamp meets that criterion. To share it CC-free would really spoil it. Try, if the creator's TOU permit it, to include the lamp in the download. What downloaders find frustrating is pages of links pages of links to now-dead sites to get bits of CC which the creator only used because they had them in their game. If the creator is still active, and their terms of use don't permit sharing with a lot, I'd try asking them for permission to include it. If they're no longer active, it's probably reasonable to include it anyway, unless they've shared it here on MTS.

---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Regular readers of my posts probably know that I frequently make townies for my game in CAS. I got the basics of how to do this from this tutorial on Pixel Trade's Live Journal. It's a bit harder to read now with Photobucket's heavy-handed watermarks, but I think it's basically still usable. Now Pixel Trade just placed the necessary hacked objects along the roadside in an otherwise empty lot, but I like to be nice to my Sims, so I built them a little changing hut which has the necessary hacked objects, along with enough basic Maxis objects to give them the essentials of life and a little bit of comfort. There are now such huts in our Veronaville and each of its sub-hoods. When I recently started to play Pleasantview after a ten year hiatus, I built this changing hut for new townies there, high up on the road leading to the bridge:

The Sims in the picture are (left to right) John Burb, Harriet Hume (a recently added CAS playable) and Delia Forrester, a townie-to-be who was staying in the hut at the time.

And here is what was going on inside the hut:

Facing us is Simon Forrester, Delia's teenage son. Hanging out with him are Dirk Dreamer (whom you almost certainly know) and Matthew Daly (another CAS playable). As far as I know Matthew is straight (he has a wife and three children) but he likes dressing in women's clothes.

Here is a view of the Hut in daylight. (I've spoilered it to keep within the thread limit of four pictures.)

The hut is very similar to ones in Veronaville and New Desconia, but I like to slightly vary the colour scheme and some of the furniture. Things I always include in my changing huts are the clothing rail by christianlov (for Sims who need new clothes), Inge's teleporter painting (to turn them into townies when everything else is ready) and the Sim Manipulator. This is probably the most important item. I use it to change Sim's surnames, to break unwanted family relationships, to change Sim's ages, and occasionally other things. I also have the batbox, but it's hidden in the roofspace like a water tank. (That's one reason why the hut has a pitched roof.)

There are no beds, as I didn't originally expect Sims to stay the night. Originally I used to move Sims out with the teleporter as soon as the essential changes were made. But now I tend to let them stay at least till they've met and fed their Welcome Wagon guests. Sometimes I find Sims do stay the night, perhaps to deal with a repairman calling the next morning. In that case they usually sleep fitfully on a garden bench, or they buy an energy drink at a community lot.

As it is becoming more common for townies-to-be to spend at least one night at the hut, and as it can get very crowded when a large group of Sims is being processed together, I decided to build a "Larger Changing Shed" in Pleasantview on a straight section of the same road, a little bit nearer the bridge.

As the ground slopes away very steeply behind the shed, I've added a fence round it on three sides. It's on a 2x1 lot.

This is what it looks like inside:

As some Sims do spend a night or two here, I have included four single beds in a sort of dormitory at one end of the building. At the other end there are two identical six tile bathrooms, each of which contains a shower. I have included the big Myne dining table so up to eight Sims can sit at it at once. Otherwise the facilities are similar to the small hut, but there's much more space to move around. At present there are eight townies-to-be living there, and at the time I took the picture, they had two visitors.

Finally here is a spoilered picture showing how the two changing buildings fit into the Pleasantview landscape:

Sorry, there's an awful lot of text here for a pictures post, but I thought some explanation of what these lots are for was needed.
