WHAT! I can't imagine a sim day without Smustle. That and MYSHUNO!

I like to have the house's stereo playing music while I play for ambience and whenever I invite a group of people over it ends up being a game of whack-a-mole just to get them to stop dancing and come inside the house

Oh yes, I do understand, but I seem to be the one person that loves all the things in the game that others find annoying!

When I see my Sims doing the smustle, I want to learn the steps so I can join in. I reckon if you can't do the smustle, and don't enjoy playing red hands, then you're not a real Sim!

I love making every Sim on a community lot join a smustle.

I love how red hands raises fun more than woohoo. People irl like to advertise products as "Better than Sex!" but I guess a game of red hands really is so!

Also, as far as learning it, there's probably youtube videos for that.

Trying to have my Sim take a social group to a community lot but for some reason group members keep getting the "leave" action and walking off.

EDIT: It only happens on smaller lots, I guess i hit a visitor limit.

Probably not quite "GRRRR!", as I've been putting up with it for over eleven years now, but I wish the game would show gravestones the same way round in Neighbourhood View as in Lot View. Compare these two views of Pleasantview Cemetery just after I moved the Goth graves there.

You know, I'm sure that one of the EPs did something weird to the gravestones, and rotated the mesh around so that the texture is oddly displayed at 90 degrees of where it ought to be. I can't really put my finger on why I think this, and since I no longer have the discs installed I can't even test it with AGS but I just have this weird hunch. I wonder if the lot imposter version of the mesh confirms my hunch.

I guess it's either Nightlife, Pets, or Apartment Life. Nightlife changed the graves so that they can be moved to community lots, the pet graves look different than the human ones (though I guess it's not that much of a change - human graves can toggle between graves and urns), and the Apartment Life witches can raise Sims from the dead as zombies.

An off-lot Sim gets low on hygiene. I queue them up to take a shower upon their return, followed by some other actions to restore needs. They return and promptly wipe out their queue to yell about being stinky.

Okay this is kind of a silly one, I admit, but I... still don't care much for Tarlia's decision to interpret Glabe and Glarn as siblings in her clean version of Strangetown. I always thought it was kind of obvious that, between the family photos showing Glabe wearing a ring and her sharing a bed with Glarn, and Glabe being completely disconnected from the family tree, she was meant to be his ex-wife.

I don't think Maxis really knew what she was supposed to be either, to be honest, or the rest of the Curious family connections for that matter.

I think they KNEW they just kinda messed it up, in the case of the alien twins. I think with Glabe specifically it's pretty obvious what the intent was.

When I influence some rando walk-by or other houseguest to clean, and instead of getting started on the heaps of green stinky dishes entirely covering the counters, table, and even some of the floor, they wander upstairs to make beds and clean a toilet that doesn't even look dirty.

How damn loud the baby swing is.

This isn't exactly a pet peeve, and I don't judge folks for the way they play... it's just something I consider kind of bizarre...
I've been playing this game since it came out, and one of the first things I did was start building families, or "clones", as I call them, of people I actually knew, or of famous people past and present, or of characters from my favorite TV shows and movies. I don't believe I ever played one of the Maxis-made families for more than a couple days, right at the outset... and as soon as I figured out that such a thing was possible, I went ahead and deleted all those households from the Families bin. Ottomas? Poof. Caliente? Poof... I have zero use for them. And then, later, I started just deleting those entire neighborhoods, and building my own. I mean, I did play Veronaville for a time using Sopranos characters (since there's a Verona, NJ). But then, I just renamed the hood North Caldwell, and got rid of both the Monty and Capp clans in one fell swoop, as if Carmine Lupertazzi had had them all whacked or something. But some folks... they'll go on playing out the whole Shakespearean feuding-families scenario to the Nth degree, generation upon generation. And have blogs about it, like a neverending soap opera, with these - IMO - silly families that Maxis created. I dunno, I just think it's a bit odd... but hey, to each their own. I'm one to talk; I'm not so much a Sims player as a builder. Probably comes from too many Lego kits as a kid... I just like building things, and building people.

I wish the picture when choosing a terrain for a new neighborhood was a zoomed-out whole-map overhead shot. I'm sure those exist somewhere online for all the in-game ones but dammit I want them convenient.

I've seen whole new generations of simmers do this, as people who were too young or not aware of Sims 2 when it was new, discover it. I think it's testament to the lore and intrigue that the early sims games had, that even now people are playing and replaying these families and creating new stories for them. But I myself prefer making and playing my own sims and neighbourhoods, but I still enjoy seeing what people did with the original hoods as much as I enjoy seeing completely novel creations.

Certainly there are so many different ways to play, which is what I think makes this such a great game. I would argue that the premade Sims are just as much "characters" as characters from a TV show or a book, although much less well developed. It's up to each player to develop them. I think the blogs/let's plays/etc. using the premades are similar to communities writing and sharing fan fiction based on other characters they love. It's quite fun if it's your thing, and it's still a creative endeavor, but of course it's not everyone's thing, and that's OK. I, for one, have never made Sims based on myself or anyone I know. That would feel strange to me, so I don't play that way.
