The concept of witches having familiar spirits that take the form of animals goes back to Middle Age Europe. As per Wikipedia: "Familiar spirits were most commonly small animals, such as cats, rats, dogs, ferrets, birds, frogs, toads, and hares. There were also cases of wasps and butterflies, as well as pigs, sheep, and horses. Familiar spirits were usually kept in pots or baskets lined with sheep's wool and fed a variety of things including, milk, bread, meat, and blood"

So while there hasn't been a recent pop culture reference that I can think of, dogs and horses are on the list historically

That is actually interesting, but I guess EA wasn’t thinking as far back like I wasn’t. I mean, no ideas are 100% original, but certain literature and film in the modern period repopularize them.

I mean, almost no one talks about revenants despite them being the western equivalent of vampires, because nothing has made them popular. That being said, I am open to making that mod.

Edit: I guess Skyrim made Draugr popular, and they’re technically revenants

I'm ranting again...
I love this mod:

https://modthesims.info/d/485454/th...ite-career.html
If anyone watched Buffy the Vampire Slayer's off-shoot Angel, this custom career reminds me of Cordelia trying to become famous.

I kind of wish there was an original mod with similar mechanics, but different in that the offshoot/new mod had a lot of opportunities that actually got your sim money and that the mod was inspired by/named after something along the lines of "Gambler" or "Con Artist" or "Deadbeat"

Essentially every day you went to so-called work (for my personal taste it would ideally be at the Criminal rabbit hole) and the sim would actually lose money like the Socialite Career, but then an Opportunity would come around that would make your sim actually earn a huge wad of simoleons, and perhaps change up the mod parameters so that instead of not making positive simoleons until career level 9 it was career level 6 or 7.

Fun for those who want to play out a scenario where the parent/guardian is the villain of the story; the classic trope of many a young adult novel & other media such as Finn's dad, Martin, from Adventure Time or the Lady Tremaine archetype from Cinderella-esque stories in a variety of interpretations (My favorite is Ever After, where the character is named Baroness Rodmilla de Ghent) or Bella's parents in Twilight.

I wish there was a mod that makes Sims 3 cars function like cars in The Sims 2. With getting in and out of the car animations and everything. It would be amazing.

Would love to have some weather tuning options. I hate how much rain there is with the seasons pack and wish it would be more infrequent

You might or should be able to achieve that using NRaas Tempest: https://www.nraas.net/community/Tempest

Kind of wish there was a player-controlled version of Sims Child Protective Services:
>Players pick to which household the kiddos get sent,
>Household that lost the kiddos gets negative moodlets and the household that recieves kiddos gets positive ones,
>The household that lost the kiddos gets monetarily fined if they talk to the kiddos that were removed too soon - a similar mechanic to getting fined for graffiti in public places,
>Potentially could add options for adoption/fostering/surrogacy situations,
>I like the idea of forcing a social services sim to the active household as a random event (like a burglar) where they check for certain criteria (such as each sim having a place to sleep, what careers are the parents in, cleanliness level of the house, whatever) and interviewing the two eldest sims in the house (who could tell the truth or try to lie) and the social services sim deciding whether or not to re-home the kiddos,
>After X amount of days a "court trial" could be an opportunity to get visitation or earn the kids back or something I dunno.
Not so much based on real-life scenarios; inspired by procedural drama TV shows. And maybe applied to pets too.
...I like to play with chaotic and dysfunctional households.

i think it would be neat if there was a career mod that allowed child sims to become "child actors"
