Default Playing TS2 without login in Origin?
Hi!

Does someone know if it's possible to play The Sims 2 (Ultimate Collection) without login in Origin? My spouse owns the game on her Origin account, so I downloaded it on my computer as well, but I'm afraid we can't play at the same time since I'd need to access her account to do so.

Things I already tried doing:
- Using par.nofate.me but apparently TS2 doesn't uses a .par file to launch.
- Block internet access from both Origin and the game using the Windows Firewall.
- Uninstalling Origin.

None of those worked. Does someone know something else that may work?
Thank you so much!

- cheers

This post is about removing SecuRom so that it will work with Win 10. The Sims 2 .exe that calls Origin doesn't have SecuRom. https://crinrict.com/blog/2017/11/s...es-securom.html

It's still the answer to how to play without origin, too.

Not sure why'd you remove something that isn't there, but ok.

I suspect that Jessa's exe in her thread might have something a bit extra added (or technically removed). Hmm. https://modthesims.info/showthread....580#post5417580

It's not about removing the securom, but one of the steps that was part of the securom removal process covered in that thread also takes care of the Origin requirement problem. People are being intentionally vague here, for reasons that should become clear if you read that thread.

Thank you very much! I have read and downloaded all the files from this article, I'll give this method a try later and then update the thread with the results.

Oh- If I understood correctly, Jessa made avaliable the files from their version of TS2, which they can play w/out login? If the first method doesn't work I'll give this version a try as well. Thanks for sharing!

Late to the party, but what I always do is Launch the game via Origin, let it load to the Neighborhood Selection screen, then go back to Desktop and Quit Origin, then go back into the game and play. I also do NOT let Origin Update, which is nice because then you always then have an 'easy' option to get into Offline Mode the next time you start; origin wll give you the option to either update or start in offline mode - which is nice.

I'm happy I found that other solution for my UC game. Me no likey Origin, not even the offline mode. I wish I could do the same for TS4, because having to log into Origin and then watch it spend a ton of resources in the background is a big pain in the bum, even the offline version (also haven't bothered updating my game in a while, because EA/Origin nearly always break more than they fix, as evidenced by at least 2-3 of their latest updates)...

I miss the days when my CD game worked on my stationary...

The other solution works too!

For clarity, I don't allow Origin to run in the Background, I just use it to Launch. I make make sure to turn it off - always.

I certainly don't want or need 'them' to keep track of how many hours I play! hahaha

Yeah, but why let it run at all? I can just click on the Sims 2 icon on my desktop and I never even see Origin.

I have not read completely through this thread yet - I have Windows 11. Can it still be done? I own the game it has been downloaded and installed. I no longer have the discs so downloaded the full set years ago. Dislike being forced... tia
