Default Livin' Large pre-order bonus: Extreme Characters Pack CD (?)
I was going through some old Sims news, and found this interesting mention of a pre-order disk that was available when purchasing Livin' Large, but haven't been able to find any information about it elsewhere. The post mentions:

"If you pre-order your copy of The Sims Livin' Large directly from us, you'll get a FREE Extreme Characters Pack CD. For more details on this deal, hop on over to the EA|Store!"

https://www.simsnetwork.com/news/20...large-goes-gold

I haven't been able to find any information about it elsewhere and was wondering if anyone here might know what it contains. Cheers!

Never heard of this pack before.

At first, I thought it was related to the "guest characters" available in the Sims like characters from SSX or those weird military/alien characters available in the Sim Creation Menu (not sure if it was already named "CAS" back then).
But I don't know if those Sims where available with the base game, this Extreme Characters Pack or added with the Complete Collection.

Pretty sure those aren't the "extreme characters" you were talking about but that's the only idea I have.

You can try the Wayback Machine at https://web.archive.org/ to see if you can pull up the order link. It kept erroring out on me when trying to view the site from that time. :-/

someone on FSO discord has the skins from pack - some of these skins made it to TSO, others in House Party's costume trunks. but as I don't own it myself I can't confirm if there are any exclusive skins. UPDATE I now have the rar file of the CD. It's on my website here. if this isn't allowed to be posted feel free to remove

I can't enter the site, it says dangerous. Do you mind sharing the content somehow again?

I braved clicking through the site (which took a good six ignores in Firefox) because I figured any malware on it would be for Windows and I'm currently on a Linux computer. The site SEEMS fine but in the interest of being better safe than sorry (and because it's been like 5 years since the person you replied to has been on the forum), I repacked the rar contents into a zip here: http://www.simfileshare.net/download/6003833/

If you want to be REALLY safe, what the Setup exe in that zip probably does is put the bmp, cmx and skn from the data1 folder in your game's skins folder, and doing things that way manually yourself and not running the exe will keep the exe from trying any funny business if it's been modified by anyone. (There is a chance there is more stuff that's inside the cab files (which are probably what it's actually unpacking?), particularly data2 since it's not got a similarly named folder, but I don't just want to recommend "run the exe, it's probably fine" when there's a chance the deceptive site warning was legitimate. You could run the exe if you want, but do so at your own risk.)

...I could try running the exe on this laptop and letting it extract to see if there's more (though... it might want me to have The Sims installed...). The Linux means if there IS anything funky in there it probably won't be able to do anything, and even if it can, I've got a new laptop coming within the week anyway. XD (Never mind, I can't get Wine to run it. This is probably user error on my part, though. Might try tomorrow from a different Linux computer that might be more receptive to the request... (Or not. This Linux installation was a test. THAT Linux installation is something I actually USE )

EDIT: Gave it a try on Ubuntu. It wants me to have Sims installed so no dice on me investigating further lol
