This is the first test version of a fix for pet breeds.

Problem: Pet breeds sort of exist, but largely as templates for generating pet appearance. It's possible to adopt a purebred, but the breed information is erased if you use Customize Collar and Coats. Breed information is also not inherited by offspring.

The mod has the following features:
- Interactions to view and set the breed of any pet (cat, dog, or horse)
- Inherit the breed to offspring when both parents are of the same breed.
- Preserve the breed when using Customize Collar and Coats

This isn't really attempting to do anything new with pet breeds. It's just fixing what is there. The primary effect is that the breed will show up when you adopt out the pet.

It might be worth rearranging the pie menu so that both options appear under a single submenu "Breed". The Show/Set breed interaction names are currently hard coded. These are the only things that need translation, since the breed names already have translations.

I have various ideas of what might be fun to do with breeds. The most obvious would be to see if I can do something with the functionality in NRaas Consigner to make the purebred status of the pet a factor in price. There are other bigger dreams that I'm kicking around, but just fixing the storage of a sim's breed seems like a mod on its own.

Wow this looks really interesting! Thank you for making it. It had really bugged me that pets would lose their breed status when you fix them in CAS. I hope it can have functionality with NRaas Consigner too.

I'm really hoping it will work with NRaas Consigner too. I have done some digging in the Consigner code, but it's probably more effective to consult with Chain Reaction. I haven't started that yet.

Testing has gone pretty well. It's not a super complicated mod at this stage. Someone reported that breeds were not persisting between games, and I haven't had a chance to check that out yet.

Oh heck yeah! Always good to see more mods and really important fixes for pets roll out, and this one is one of those fixes I'm gonna keep my eye on, because it's sorely needed!

I tried to do other stuff with it, including making breeds compatible with NRaas Consigner, and I struck out, so I set it aside. But the original feature of setting and preserving breed information works. I could release it with just that.

That would be awesome, I have been hoping for a way to set and preserve breeds!

Would the one you are thinking of releasing be the same as the one you have listed at the top of the page?
