^ goes well with:
HUGE Sims 4 Update dropped today (Base Game FREE Content)

Actually, it is not THAT huge and it is broken - but it's the thought that counts, right?

Also, interesting to notice that Krafton did not lower the price at the launch of the base game but they are lowering it now with the DLC. Obviously working hard to catch that elusive 1.000.001st player.

Decent overview of the recent update. I wish people would stop comparing it to TS4. For me, any new game of this kind needs to be compared to TS3 and TS2. That's the high standard that needs to be improved on.

To be honest I think it should be compared to TS4 when it was released. Having played both, they were both in a similar state in my opinion.

I won't lie, I get a little annoyed whenever I see the click bait videos that inZOI is a flop because the player count has dropped. It's an early access title with bugs, unfinished content, and lack of polish in lots of areas, what did people expect? For the game to immediately reach the heights of a quarter century old franchise? And anything less than that deems it a flop? I mean, look at one of the most popular single player games of the modern era, Baldur's Gate 3. The general perception of that game when it launched its early access was very middling and lukewarm. It made virtually no splash in the bigger gaming pond at the time, and despite that, became universally acclaimed at its full launch, and at that time and that time only, sent literal tidal waves through the entire industry, redefining every conversation to be had. A lot of things change from beginning of early access to the end. Like, a LOT. Now, is that specific case typical of early access titles? No, but it is the perfect example that this super early 'early access' period is basically insignificant in the grand scheme of things for a AAA dev. They are still figuring things out, testing and tuning gameplay ideas, and outright overhauling features already in the game. The general audience understands that as well which is why much of the audience won't buy into early access regardless of the quality; they're simply not interested in playing an in development game prone to instability and constant changes. Though worry not, their power will be felt at the full release. So I don't think anyone at Larian or Krafton expected their game to just become a resounding, revolutionizing success right out of the early access gate. They're aware it's not the time for that type of expectations just yet, and in fact the only people expecting that are the fans who love to pit the competitor games against each other for better or worse.

With that said, from everything I've seen in videos for this new (free) DLC, I believe they are on the right path to getting this game to where it needs to be. Yes, they're adding all new content but they're also slowly redoing and making additional polish passes of some things people wanted expanded or fixed. Also, putting it on console as soon as possible is a great decision that gets them past maybe their biggest obstacle (people not owning beefy enough PCs to even try it out). But even now, it's still early yet. I don't think we can rightly call it a success or a flop until they fully launch it, then we can step back to get a look at the finished product.

I agree with every bit of this. Great comments.
