Default I need to uninstall an EP - how i do it correctly without corrupting anything?
Hey,
I need to uninstall AL because since I have it installed my game doesn‘t run smooth anymore and I prefer a smooth game over sims living in appartments

I have a backup from my documents folder when Freetime (the last EP) was installed.
Can I just uninstall AL and remove it this way from my Programs(x86)/ EA GAMES folder and then put the backup back in my Documents/EA Games folder?
Is that working without corrupting anything or is it better to reinstall all EPs before putting the backup back in my documents folder?
I just don‘t want to corrupt anything, so what would you suggest is the best solution?

Thanks in advance.

As we said on the other thread, this doesn't corrupt anything it just looses all your progress. What are you running the game on? You should be able to run all EP's and SP's smoothly on anything apart from a notebook. Al brings much more than apartments.

How much RAM do you have? Do you have a dedicated graphics card? If you have a decent amount of RAM have you applied the 4 gig patch? Have you set the graphic rules? This is what needs to be done for a smooth game. Unless you are running the game on a potato, then yes probably best to uninstall packs you don't use much of.

Acer Nitro 5
Windows 11
16 GB RAM
NVIDIA GeForce RTX 3050 Ti

4GB patch is applied

Shouldn‘t be a power issue. Probably more of a compatibility issue…

So it does work if I just uninstall the latest pack?

I didn't notice any slowdown after installing the later expansions, and that was with a computer back in 2008. The usual cause of lag is that something on the lot is throwing an error. Turn on debug mode and see if that's happening.

What's your processor/CPU info?
It seems a lower-powered CPU can cause more lag than RAM issues for TS2, especially since it doesn't seem to work too great with multi-core CPUs (at least on Windows). The later packs upped the CPU requirements (2.2 ghz), though those were 2008-based and possibly also for single-core, so take it with a grain of salt... (a multi-core would be able to take some of the load from other processes, leaving one core for the game - it's possible to set the game to run on just one core)

(And it's likely someone can explain this better than I can).

I don‘t know that mich about computer, since I usually play console.
I‘m now playing without AL and it is a great improvement, the game does run A LOT better…
Before if i played on 3x speed even the clock advanced very slow when I zoomed out a little and the game had more stuff going on onscreen. Now it runs fine again and I am probably better off leaving it this way…

Your pc sounds fine, you should be able to easily play all EP's and SP's as well as have some CC. It's not like each EP is its own Skyrim game, it's a 2008 add on, it should make no difference. I would be investigating what was going on and fixing it. You probably had a mod conflict and it was throwing errors or something like that, but its your choice. Just know many mods won't work now.
