Default Teddy Bear recoloring
My late sister did a Teddy bear recolor that is not showing up in my game. I figured I would just export her texture, and use it in a fresh recolor. It worked for her toy stove, but not the Teddy Bear. SimPE hangs forever at "loading subsets." What would make SimPE hang there? I definitely have the zCEP files installed for both Teddy and oven, in both downloads and program files. I really want to get this Teddy bear recolor done, as it is part of a large Nursery set she did.

Not to mention the matching lamp that is also possibly not showing up, but I can't even figure out which lamp....

Edit: Perhaps I need to clarify. My sister’s package opens fine, and I can export the texture. It is the Maxis Durable Plush Teddy Bear that will not open.

Is SimPE reading your CEP extras folders? Check in the file table that they are loading, and try moving them up in priority in the advanced settings (you might need one of the older SimPE versions to do this, I remember some saying that certain ChrisHatch versions don't allow this. The final Quaxi version does).

Thank you for your help. SimPE seems to be reading my zCEP folders; they are checked and come immediately after the MMAT and GMND files. And I was able to recolor the toy oven, which is also a zCEP folder item.

I am using the 0.77.69 version of SimPE by Chris Hatch with the Legacy game. I prefer the 0.75f version, but it will not accept any path to the base game that is not Sims 2.exe, which Legacy lacks. So I am stuck with 0.77. I cannot see any reason why SimPE is not opening a Maxis object that has proper zCEP files!

I'm hoping someone else might have some ideas, to me it does seem like SimPE is hanging on locating the core files.

Well. I uninstalled Legacy and installed the UC. The 0.75f version of SimPE very cheerfully opened up the Durably Plush Teddy bear for me, and I have a working CC Teddy Bear now. So, I wasn't doing anything wrong.

More and more it looks like I need to carefully follow Nopke's instructions on building a couple regedit files to switch between game versions. Legacy for playing, due to the properly scaled interface, and UC for using SimPE and Bodyshop. But I now have the CC teddy bear, as well as some CC undies that were not working, so it's a win.

Well that was an extreme way to get the recolour working! Glad you sorted it out!

The only question remaining is whether the issue was with SimPE or Legacy. I suppose I could try 0.77 with UC and see if it happens.
