This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Game worked yesterday, won't load today
My computer was just upgraded from Windows 10 to 11, on the 16th. Yesterday (the 17th), my game worked on Windows 11 - today (the 18th) it will not load at all. It is producing a log, but I have no idea what to do with that info, and it's not an object package problem, so WhatCausedThis can't read the log or suggest anything.

I use the RPC. Clicking the launcher currently shows the black RPC info screen, then the TS2 loading screen, and then the game either crashes or hangs, at most halfway through the loading bar.

I have:
removed the Downloads Folder/Saved Sims, generated a new TS2 folder, updating my graphics driver, checked that OneDrive is turned off, emptied Standby Memory (never heard of that technique before but I did it anyway). RPC deletes caches automatically but I checked for that too.

Since the problem persisted, I went into my Program Files and removed everything from EP9/Bins and from Base/zCEP-Extra.

My system is: Intel(R) Core(TM) i9-10900 CPU @ 2.80GHz (2.81 GHz), 16.0 GB RAM, 64-bit operating system, x64-based processor, 6GB Nvidia GeForce RTX 2060.

The oddest thing I remember doing yesterday (apart from Windows 11) was downloading a new version of SimPE and giving myself an Ident. I used the game after that, and it seemed normal (not 'playing' as such, just inspecting CC in a test hood). The computer was shut down overnight. Today I moved a lot of stuff around in Downloads, but nothing in Downloads seems to be the problem. I really don't think I touched Program Files at all today, until I was investigating the crash. I used my old version of SimPE for today's tweaks.

This is a heavily-modded setup, with lighting mods etc altering the game files, but none of it should have changed overnight...

Attached - pic of the crash message, and one of the error logs.

What else can I try? Any other spots in ProgFiles where I might have messed something up and forgotten?

I have no idea if this will help (stumbled upon, thought I'd make sure I can read it again when needed) - but since you seem to have tried it all, no harm in giving you the link?

Check your config log to see if your graphics card is being recognised and has the correct memory allocation. Also recheck your RPC install (make sure the DLLs are there and the C++ redist and .Net frameworks).

Fixed!
On restarting the computer today, the " Gdrv2.sys Driver Cannot Load on This Device" message was back, but the game loaded (including the intro movie, which I normally have despite the RPC, and which was missing yesterday when the game was crashing).

After the Win11 upgrade, gdrv2.sys was blocked by Windows security. The internet's suggested fix for that was to uninstall Gigabyte's APP Center - and I think that may be what did the damage? I used the computer normally for a whole day without it...but perhaps restarting the computer the next day, with APP Center uninstalled, made the problem obvious. Today, the restart included the updated graphics driver from yesterday, which probably reset APP Center - but it was still the 2021 version.

Updating APP Center (B24.1105.1) rather than deleting it didn't remove the gdrv2 message (game still loaded), but updating Gigabyte's EasyTune (B24.0119.1) seems to have now fixed that security message - and the game still loads. Phew!

Simsample and Justpetro, thanks for your suggestions - even moral support makes a difference at these times.
