Default Recolouring the Nominell Chair (IKEA pack preorder bonus)
Hi again!

I'm wanting to make just a couple of recolours for the one proper office chair looking seat in this game. But for some reason when I try to use Object Workshop to recolour the Chair_Dining_Nominell.package file, it doesn't produce a texture file to import my textures to. I've tried also using a random recolour elsewhere online as a base (renaming the GUID and filename) but it doesn't show up in my game. I checked my CEP_EXTRA folder to see if there is a file in there I need to recolour instead but nothing that looks like it's IKEA pack related. I can use the design tool on the chair in-game so it shouldn't be a lack of CEP files issue, though only the default red colour shows up even with my attempted recolours installed. What am I doing wrong here?

Sorry if I'm missing something really obvious; I'm still a rookie at making Sims 2 CC! (only the occasional dabbles now and then over the past ~10 years but nothing complex)

That's not how recolors work - if you want to "reuse" a recolor file, try just replacing the texture instead.
If you do anything with the GUID (in the MMAT) or internal filename, you end up unlinking it from the original mesh.

The preorder items aren't included in the CEP. The Nominell chair is available here: http://www.moreawesomethanyou.com/s...ic,11573.0.html
If you want to recolor the Nominell chair, you need to recolor that spesific file. In the SimPE Object Workshop, do "Open..." and find the file from where you've saved it on your computer, then choose "recolor" in the dropdown list.

The file should (only) end up with a MMAT, TXTR and TXMT per included subset (occasionally just 1 TXTR for two subsets, it means you can recolor both with the same texture). You should only need to change the texture in the TXTR. Don't mess around with anything in the MMAT, and only do changes in the TXMT if you know what you're doing (tutorial time), or it can have strange results.
If the file has more or other resources than the types mentioned, you've likely done "clone" instead of "recolor".

Unrelated to this spesific item, but still useful to know - some items are available as "CEP-Extras", those files are ingame items or "expanded" items the CEP doesn't cover on its own, but that can be added to the "CEPExtras" folders (follow install instructions if you find you need these).

Hi, thank you for explaining stuff. I didn't word my original question very well though (it was kinda late tbf)

When I'm opening the Chair_Dining_Nominell.package with Object Workshop, it does not give me any TXTR files. This was why I was using another file I got online since that did have the TXTR file, and the GUID changing was supposed to avoid conflicts with the original recolour I used as my base. This isn't ideal though since I do want the original recolour in my game as well as my own.

I've never had this issue before, I'm wondering if it's because it is a preorder item and is coded differently? For clarity I got it from the MATY bulk upload of all the Store/Preorder content.

I've attached an image of SimPE with the missing TXTR file.

Will I have to make my own TXTR file or is it more complex than that? i.e. needing to link it to the other files in the .package with a GUID or other code. Or is the texture repo'd to another asset?

Do you have IKEA and the CEP enabled in the SimPE settings, and do you actually have the IKEA pack?

Looks like this particular file is using textures found in the IKEA files (it's referenced by name in the TXMT). If everything is properly enabled, it pulls the texture from the game files (I checked, my recolors get a TXTR resource).

Extras --> Preferences -->
* System Folders (Check that everything is linked to the proper EP/SP)
* File Table (Check that all the packs you have installed are ticked in the "Simple settings", double-check with the "Advanced settings")

Oh thank you so much!! I knew there would've been something little I overlooked, it happens way too often. I'm playing on LC (mainly due to the UI upscaling stuff since I play in very high resolution) so that doesn't originally come with IKEA Stuff, but I copied the IKEA folder over from my UC install. I guess SimPE didn't automatically connect the dots and hadn't got the link to the SP08 folder, so I fixed that. Relaunched a couple of times before it started to work and now I have a TXTR file!! Thank you again

It's always the things you don't immediately think could be the problem. Glad you got it fixed
