The Overrides folder is more suitable for mods you want to give more priority on them, like core or tuning mods.

Are there downside of putting a mod that should be in packages in overrides folder if im not sure?

Also, does that mean i should put "simler90's Gameplay Core Mod" in overrides? I'm asking because its mostly being told to just put in packages.

It doesn't really matter actually. My mods of this kind are placed in Packages folder and they are totally fine there. The moders usually don't say where to put their mods because it's up to us.

Don't use Nraas mods with simler's in the same time!

I can't give up Nraas mods.

On one of the guides it says it safe to use both after changing "Nraas > Overwatch > Settings > Set Alarm Hour" to 5 from 3. I don't how true is it but i would prefer to give up core mod then nraas if i have to.

In simler's mod if you scroll to bottom of the description it said that :
"This mod is not compatible with any other mod that also modifies the GameplaySystems.dll or GameplayObjects.dll."
That refers to most or all Nraas mods. I would say that you have to remove it in or order to keep Nraas.

I don't say that simler90's mod is bad, just it's not a good idea to use it together with Nraas.

I also changed that setting when I tested them together but my game crashed, so I remove simler's mod. I don't say it's bad, but it's not a good idea to use them together.

Mine doesn't crash but i only tested for like a hour. Weird.

Anyone else have more info on this?

It seems most things that's new conflicting with nraas like mono patcher mods. That's a mess. Ah well.

To the original question, you generally only need to put something in the Overrides folder when the creator says. Basic game loading priority is that files in your C Programs load first. After that, packages in your Documents, Sims folder load... Test, Packages, Overrides. Let's say you have default skins in Test folder... they will load after the EA skins in C Programs, and will be used bby the game. If you have other default skins in Packages, THEY overwrite Test, and those will show in game. As @vesko_sims3 said, you can put core and script mods in Overrides (I do), but it probably isn't necessary. An FYI... mods like KW have a "load delay" feature. I have no clue how it works, but it has a timer that keeps it from loading until last, and whatever loads last is what the game uses. That mod loads itself even after Overrides, so it will even overwrite mods in that folder.

As to Nraas mods... They are my base, as they fix things in basic game play that EA never bothered to. Except for KW, I avoid anything that conflicts with Nraas.

Yeah, im tired of dealing with mod conflicts and i don’t want to give up nraas so i’m just gonna avoid sim90 core mod and mono patcher mods. Shame.

I did play without those mods for so long so it should be fine.

Beside that, if i understand it right, i should only put mod in overrides folder if i want it to override something else, right? So if i only have sim90 core mod installed (for example) i can just put it in packages and it doesn’t really matter as it would be the only mod?

Not as I know. Core and script mods can cause issues and not show up in Dashboard tool. Things like default replacements, skins and hair being most common, it's a matter of which is read last during loading, and that is used by the game. But, still best to have only one.
