Honest question, if I modded existing suits to include neckties/bowties would that break MTS rule of no slighted modded existing items? Or would it have to be a stand alone accessory? Probably stand alone is best, right? That way it bog down everyone's game with unnecessary file sizes.

I have never made an accessory before, but I will give it a chance later tonight when I get home.

@CardinalSims My past experience with NRass Porter is that it does not work 100% of the time. There were times when I did everything correctly and then place the family down into a new world to discover that all of their familial connections were lost. Similar to how using the game's save Sim households to the bin will sometimes keep the familial connections intact when uprooting to another world but sometimes not at all. I might as well just use the in-game way.

Depending on what I am doing, I am either moving the actual Sim(s) or creating copies of them to manually re-connect family ties since those Sims are supposed to be living elsewhere but I want the DNA of them to affect descendants, their phenotype if the relative does not have it. Basically I am really into genetics carrying over throughout the generations with broken family trees, as TS3 never supported this and probably for good reason such as being a 32-bit game and making the game intentionally accessible to many so TS3 was not meant to be a high-end game run on a high-end computer.

I'm sure NRass Traveler is not difficult to learn how to connect worlds but I know my Sims tend to automatically populate the neighborhoods quite frequently so I figure further straining a 32-Bit game engine will just ultimately give me poor performance when my goal is to still have my preferred playstyle with less strain on the game engine. I am also concerned that something will go haywire and it somehow affects everything that I may not be able to easily backtrack despite Save As. I don't know, I feel the game will be more stable using my workaround way though I did not try NRass Traveler in that way and if so would create a brand new TS3 folder and saves/Sims to test out the limits and the issues it may come with.

Not that I checked recently but I don't know if there's really much information into others playstyle and experiences with using NRass Traveler for connecting worlds, Sim population, Sim relationships/expanded panel, overall extra data being committed to memory, save/world management, etc. So I tend to stick with what I am familiar with even when it's over-the-top.

Previous Game: Batman: Arkham Knight (Hard Mode/Unfinished-Another Time)

Current Game(s): ObsCure and Cyberpunk 2077

Is there a sorting mod to reduce load times in Build/Buy and CAS? What I mean is like if I'm in CAS and click everyday outfit, the default is try and load all. And after few seconds of loading, it is possible to sort by game. But like, is more possible? You know in Build/Buy how there in folders/collections you can make and sort your stuff into, is that possible as default in CAS. To elaborate, I mean like...more closed world vs open world, sort of. When I would go to CAS Clothing Everyday Full Outfit, by default I could do such per category custom folders as FANCY, OLD TIMEY, DO NOT USE, FAVORITES, ACTIVE FAMILY, BLACK, BLUE, WORK. Or in tops I could make CADIGANS, LONG SHIRT, SHORT SLEEVE, TANK TOPS. Or in accessories I could make EARRINGS, BODY MODS, EARS, TAILS, ETC. That by default, if you sort all your stuff into folders once, they sort themselves everytime. That way, the folder faces themselves only would load, with its contents requiring more load time if you click into the folder you want.

I don't know about you, but my CAS runs so slow I think sometimes I hear the dial up ring tone. And like computers of old, so help you if you attempting to do anything before it was fully loaded. My full outfits page and accessories page are the worst offenders.

So I would love a mod to reduce CAS load time, by technically not loading everything at once, if that makes sense. Does anyone know it such a thing exists?

Only one world is ever being actively simulated at a time, with the others being unloaded / in stasis until they're visited again. Due to this, the overhead of using Traveler is negligible if at all
It also fixes multiple game-breaking issues with the EA travel system (via World Adventures, University, or Into the Future), making it one of the essentials.

You'd find most of that discussion on, unsurprisingly, the NRaas site itself. Such questions are pretty common over there and we're always happy to answer
Many of us over there, myself included, play rotationally between households and worlds without a hitch - it's not for everyone, but I can at least vouch that it's safe and performance-light.

MasterController has options such as Compact Mode (only one preset shown, instead of 3+, for clothes, accessories, and hats), hiding entire expansion packs, and blacklisting parts you don't use.
That's about the closest there is, currently.

I wish there was a mod (or some way) to stop sims being randomly assigned gloves for outerwear. I have tried disabling them for random, using CASP_Editor, but they still get them. The main bugbear is those wretched elbow clothes. Whoever thought they were appropriate wear for child sims anyway? They are base game, seemingly, unlike those that came with Seasons, and I've disabled them too, but my sims kids still get them.

This is actually tunable!
You can either make a tuning mod for the Sim XML, or the path in Retuner is By Tunable XML > Sims3.Gameplay.Actors > Sim > kChanceRandomGenOuterwearHasWinterGloves

@CardinalSims

Tuning mods are a little beyond me, so I think I will go with Retuner.

EDIT: Well, glory hallelujah, that worked! Those random gloves have been bothering ever since I've been playing TS3, and finally the damned things are history. Many, many thanks!

I wouldn't mind the gloves except that the custom fingernails are in the gloves category so before I edit them my sims look like they got confused & painted their nails bright fuschia to go out and rake leaves.

I use MC multiple accys per location, so I end up with fingernails poked thru the gloves.

That was part of my problem with the gloves: my 'cat girl' sims all have claws, which poked through the gloves. But, on the plus side, because the other custom fingernails I have are in the gloves category, I could give my ordinary (non clawed) sims those and avoid getting unwanted gloves assigned as outerwear.

BTW I discovered where those child elbow gloves come from: they're from Generations and were set to valid for random. So I was finally able to get rid of them.

This mod helps quite a bit, but does not fulfill all the details you mentioned.
https://modthesims.info/d/658759/smooth-patch-2-1.html

Also, @M_M_McGrue , did you know of this world?
https://modthesims.info/d/641836/mermaidia.html
I have no interest in it, so I cannot vouch for it's play-ability at all

You could use Nraas master controller to "add occult" to everyone and make them all mermaids, and mess with skin tones globally if you have a custom skin that you like to use for mersims.
Doesn't solve the fact that Mermaidia is an unpopulated world, but Nraas debugger can 'Populate world.'
Everyone will look pudding-faced if you don't have additional mods to accommodate for that, but it's a start.
There's only 14 residential lots though; keep that in mind.
This mod helps with pudding-faced sims:
https://modthesims.info/d/670722/ra...-fixes-2-0.html

(If you don't know what "pudding-faced" means, all sims will have the same face where the sliders are in the middle/neutral position.)

If I use a custom world I usually just go to Isla Paradiso or the future world and use Porter to download everyone, then stick them in the custom world since I don't actually play in Isla Paradiso or Oasis Landing. It does screw up sometimes, as previous thread posts mentioned, but it gets the world less empty.

I have enough sliders and mods to mess with sims' genetics that if I use "Populate world" everyone tends to look like inbred weirdos or that they belong to the Beavis and Butthead universe. If you have similar mods you may experience a similar outcome.

I'd like a mod that lets sims use some form of flashlight/torch/zippo lighter/mining helmet/lantern when they are in a dark area.

I would really appreciate it if someone could expand SupernaturalTypes in CAS to include the missing types. Meerfolks and co have their submenus in CAS, but it's awkward and feels a bit unnatural.
In my game, I prefer it when these SupernaturalTypes are something genetic, like mutants. Read enough books and you can become anything is the most boring and uninspired narrative device there is in this ‘genre’.

A mod for placing objects in the game world along the Z-axis. Rocks and trees in particular stand on the ground and are not ‘rooted’ to it.
Another mod would be more of a mod fix that prevents the placement of additional lots from disrupting the roads. In Sunset Valley and Riverview, placing lots causes the roads to start clipping with the terrain in some places.

This is actually a flaw with Ellacharmed's routing fixes, the EA worlds don't display this behaviour afaik.

I'm sure I mentioned this before, but I'd love a mod that could attach a list of drinks to a home bar, similar to drinks attached to a bar type in LN. You can add known drinks to the mixologist, but then the next one that comes, you have to do it again.

I'd like a mod or piece of custom content that is an adaptive bed.
Imagine the following:
Sim gets born, let's call them Mason.
  • You go into build/buy mode and grab up the 'adaptive bed' for little Mason. It starts off looking like a two-person bed with the appropriate floor blueprint, and you click on it to "Assign to Mason." The bed keeps the same floor blueprint, but now it's a crib since Mason is an infant. Perhaps some decorative stuff to help fill out the floor space; a carpet and some toys or whatever.
  • Then Mason ages up to toddler - maybe the crib gets a little big bigger, maybe it doesn't.
  • When Mason becomes a Child the 'adaptive bed' turns into a single-person mattress.
  • When Mason is a teen an option for single or double bed would be impressive, but I also think that would over-complicate the mod.
  • Finally, Mason is a young adult the 'adaptive bed' defaults to becomes a two-person mattress and the object stays in that mode until Mason dies, leaves the household, or the bed gets reassigned to someone else.
I'm sure it'd make Create-A-Style an absolute nightmare, but the idea itself is super cool I wouldn't mind not being able to recolor it as long as there is at least 4 swatches; ideally a male-coded, a female-coded, and two neutral options that match base-game decorations such as the Space Mobile, the My Little House painting, the Real Pretty Butterflies, or rainbow colored to match the Infinitoy Imagination Station and Rip Co. Little Baker Station.
Thus concludes my rant. Thank you.

Kind related to @quickaccount 's rant, I wish you could assign alters to vampires, the way you can assign beds to other Sims. I play a hierarchal vampire family/ clan. Any vampire will sleep where the patron and matron should only sleep, and it gets on my nerves!

I wish there was a mod where if a child sim or a teen sim without a license need to leave somewhere (meaning they are not home and they need a ride home), it would prompt the child or teen sims to call/text mom or dad or guardian to pick them up from that location and it would make the adult sim leave where ever they are or receive a text from their child and they have to leave where ever they are to go pick them up.

I guess it gives the nostalgic idea of "I still need my parents to help me" instead of the bike at home magically appears to ride their bike home or taking a taxi.

Here's a mod that I (personally) wish would ACTUALLY EXIST: "A mod that lets you (or the players/simmers) save any floor covering that you (or the players/simmers) are using as ceilings to the category they call "Ceiling Tiles", and YES that DOES include recolors of the ceilings in that category that you (or the players/simmers) have made!"
