Default Pink Pool Water
Hi, everyone! I've got Super Collection running great on my Mac (2021 MacBook Pro, running Sequoia 15.2) but I have one issue I can't seem to figure out. My pool water is sort of flashing pink like textures do when they're not working. But it's not all pink, it's just like a pink undertone to it. I tried installing the "Nicer looking pool water without shaders" mod by jedi93 on here just for kicks, since I know the issue has something to do with shaders, but that just made it turn completely pink. Even more oddly, the pink tones only seem to affect how it overlays the walls of the pool but not the floor, but it's not an issue with the wall itself because even if I change the walls the pink tone is there. Pond and beach water are unaffected as well.

I was wondering if anyone else has had this issue and/or has any idea how to fix it. Thanks!

Can you post pictures of how it looks with/without the mod?

Does anything else flash pink or appear pink, or is it just the water?
Do you have shaders turned on or off?
Do you have other shader or lighting related mods, or mods that change graphics (shadows, etc.)?

Ah, sure! I'll show it. I should have in the first place; I'm sick and totally didn't think lmao. It's only pool water that's pink. Nothing else at all. I have no graphics or shader mods at all.
So I didn't know shaders could be turned on or off. I looked at my "Graphics Rules.sgr" and found a cheat there to enable and disable it, so I tried in-game. Turning off shaders made the pink go away entirely! So it's definitely a shader issue. But I don't know if shaders being off will otherwise adversely affect my graphics, and if so, I'd still very much like another solution if anyone has one lol.
Anyway, attached are two screenshots, one with shaders and one without. (I also have no idea why my screenshots are so tiny, but I'm guessing it's because the game was made for a much lower resolution despite letting me play at mine).

ETA: turns out I was wrong! I did have Nopke's shadow fix. I removed it and cleared my cache. No more pink when paused, but the walls in the pool are a dark blue instead. And when in live mode and not paused, it still flashes pink, so I don't think that's the source of the problem. No screenshot both because the problem is still basically there *and* even though I hit the "c" key multiple times, apparently no screenshot was made. Weird.

(The biggest snapshots you get ingame are 600x450, regardless of resolution - you can use screenshot programs or similar to take larger pictures)

Could be an issue with settings for the shaders, or general settings, especially when shaders are involved. Sometimes the game isn't properly recognizing the hardware (check the "Config-log.txt" file in the Logs folder, in the save files, not install files, it should list some info on memory use and graphic card at the top - I think the Mac version already has access to 4 GB memory, but could be wrong).

Could also be it needs an update for the graphic drivers (check which graphics card/chip you've got first - on occasion, updating drivers can cause some issues, depending on update method).

Have you edited the Graphic Rules file at any points before this? (especially wondering if you've used the GraphicRulesMaker).

I haven't done anything to the Graphic Rules file; GraphicRulesMaker doesn't work on Mac. I just looked and the 64-bit update for Super Collection was back in 2020; my laptop's only slightly newer but I've played TS2 on it before without this issue. I will say I did have an issue of the game not running when one of the operating system updates came out but then I discovered I just needed to set my computer's max frame rate to 60 and it's worked fine since.

I also have two "config-log.txt" files, one being "MacBook-Pro.local-config-log.txt" and the other "MacBook-Pro.lan-config-log.txt"; I assume the first one is the correct one? Either way it seems a bit odd and I don't know if Aspyr has a different way of handling this stuff with their build. I say this because the file says my game is running on "Windows NT 6.2" and the "Graphics device info" is largely empty (I've attached the file if you'd like to look).

As far as I know my drivers are fully updated. I keep my Mac updated overall at all times and I'm pretty sure that updates drivers, too.

If you haven't always had this problem, when did it start? Had you downloaded any new mods?

It's hard to say when it started, because I haven't played the game in probably 8 months to a year? I've been sick a lot this year, including COVID in January which has resulted in my memory being very foggy from then until about August. But I can say for certain I didn't change my mod set-up at all between then and now. The only thing I can think of that may have changed is that my computer has had a few updates since then, the biggest probably being the release of the Sequoia OS. If drivers got updated or other graphic changes were made in some way (I seriously don't know how this works lol) then maybe that could do something?

I did do a test where I removed all my mods and CC (I only left the necessary package for CEP in my Downloads folder) and deleted cache, then tried a new neighborhood just to see if that fixed the issue somehow and it did, remarkably. So it definitely has something to do with my mods, I just have no idea which or why. Thankfully they're well-organized so I'm just going to
I probably should have done this to begin with but I honestly didn't stop to think it could be a mod just because everything worked fine with this same mod set-up when I played last year. Something must have broken somewhere in that time. What's weird is I don't have any graphic mods other than he shadow fix by Nopke and removing that didn't fix the problem so I'm really at a loss, but what I'm going to do is put all my CC back in the game and test it like that, no mods. If it works with that, then I'll just go redownload all my mods a few at a time (no more than 5) and test over and over until I figure out what's causing the issue.
I apologize for not having done this basic step already. I've been very sick for the last few weeks but haven't been able to see my doctor so I'll blame that for my lack of common sense lol.

ETA: I found the culprit! It was Lazy Duchess's "Wall Top Fix". Looking at the page for the fix it *does* say it modifies the materials shaders, which would include the pool shader. From the name alone I'd never have thought it was related, but it makes sense. And it looks like others have reported the issue on the feedback for the mod here, too. Oops! I feel silly for not digging deeper on my own to begin with, but I really appreciate everyone's help, and hopefully if any other players have my issue, they'll find this thread

It's possible that a mod got corrupted. Yeah, find out if it's a mod by doing a 50/50 and if you find one that messes it up then try redownloading that mod and see if that fixes it.

Hope you're feeling better now. Covid sucks.

Thanks! COVID took quite the toll. Thankfully I'm mostly better now from it, though I've had what basically is misophonia since. Certain noises just seem to totally fry my brain and cause massive spikes of anxiety. Most of the time it's tolerable, but bieng otherwise sick makes it harder to deal with.

Anyway, as for the issue, I just updated my last post before i saw your response. Turns out it was Lady Duchess's "Wall Top Fix", which I hadn't even realized directly edited shaders. I know it used to work fine with my set-up but I figure maybe a new driver update just made the two not want to play nice lol. Thanks for the help
