Default Selling paintings doesn't add funds
I've noticed in my game that when a sim completes a painting and they go to sell it, it doesn't add any funds. I'm playing Complete Collection, which I just installed yesterday. Anyone know what I can do to fix this?

You could try uninstalling and reinstalling the game, and see if that fixes it.

Or, for a work-around, you could use the Sim Cheats Enabler to use the money cheat to add the right amount of funds. Do note that the money cheat sets the household funds to that amount, so if you sell a painting for $5, you need to set the amount to your current household funds plus 5. Saying "money 5" would set your total household funds to 5, which is not what you want. :-) You can get Sim Cheats Enabler at https://modthesims.info/showthread....230#post5787230.

Anti-virus software often erroneously flags Sim Cheats Enabler as a virus because it alters sims.exe, and anything that alters an exe gets flagged. But altering sims.exe is what we WANT it to do; that's why we're using it. :-) I've used it in my game for years with no trouble.

Something I noticed the other day (in Edith, not my actual install (non-Legacy)) is that paintings made with the Maxis easel are selling for... one simoleon. This topic has reminded me of that and now I want to investigate if the easel's been modified in Edith or if something else is afoot. (Or if that can just happen if a Sim's paintings truly suck, lol)

This has nothing to do with this topic other than my paintings are also selling for next to nothing in Not Legacy, but this topic reminded me of it.

In the normal game, the sale price of your paintings depends on the Creativity score of the sim who painted it. When your sim is painting to gain their first Creativity point, those paintings DO sell for one whole simoleon, but then, I imagine those paintings suck. :-) The sale price of paintings gradually goes up as Creativity rises.

Yeah, I just don't think I'd ever seen a painting sell for just one! 🤔 Maybe I should pay more attention to my Sims when they paint. XD

Thanks for the help, everyone. I may have jumped to conclusions and spoken too soon. I think maybe it was because a child sim was the one who made the painting and then sold it, and perhaps that's why they didn't earn anything, because child sims don't have any skill levels to determine how many simoleons they can earn from it. I did some testing with adult sims, and it appears they could still earn simoleons from selling.

Actually, child sims are assigned a random set of hidden skills. I once made a family of seven children and one caretaker, set all the kids to painting, and some sold paintings for $1, but one of them sold paintings for $40. You can never SEE what skill levels the game has randomly assigned to a child sim, but they do have them.

That’s so interesting!! It’d be cool if there was some way to see what their hidden skills are.
