A long time ago I downloaded a mansion that came with a CC rug that you built yourself so it would fit the room you were building in, rather than the standard X by X rug sizes. Does anyone know of anything similar?

You mean floor tiles, or a rug item?

There are some floors ingame that can act as "build your own rug", which is why I ask. Could be recolors, or floors inspired by those.

I have one set of 3 rugs that go together; there are 2 "ends" (for someone who can't turn things around?) and one center (so you can use several and make a "runner") . But you can't just make a bigger square. Although with 2 cheats and a mod you can put even Maxis rugs together.

You can make tile rugs with halftiles, too (Ctrl+F). You can also use the room divider fence (or a regular fence) and place the tile up against this, if you're having difficulties placing the half tile.

Some floor tiles can be rotated ( with < > or , . depending on keyboard). Not all patterns are tiled when rotated, so the effect is a bit so-and-so.
