Default Sorting multiple downloads
Anybody know a good way to Edit out multiple Variations of a Single download?

Using some Statues as an Example.
Each object (of 5) has about a dozen colors, some ugly, some almost identical. Five would be Plenty.
The descriptions are just random numbers that don't show up in any pictures, and not in any matching order.
The PackClean graphics are too vague or similar.

I tried a method I heard about, Editing them out on a Lot, Saving it as a File and Opening it with PackClean.
That didn't work, all the versions still showed up, back where I started.
I hate having to list 150 downloads when I only want about 25.

Any help or Ideas?

Clean Installer may be able to help.

Depending on how much CC you have, and whether you want to clean out meshes or just recolors, the GUID scanner in SimPE can be of help. It can search through and find duplicatefiles + potential GUID conflicts. Not sure if it finds duplicate recolors, though.

If you use the Clean Installer method, you need to make sure you remove all the files manually from the Downloads folder. I think the CI only shows the files, it doesn't delete them from the Downloads folder. You can see the filenames in one of the columns to the right. When you search for files in a folder, as long as they have identical names, you should be able to find them.

You can view recolors in Clean Installer (preview window, only the texture), and remove them by searching for the filenames.

Another option is SimPE - you can open the files to look at the textures (TXTR resource) to see if you want them or not.

When you say list, do you mean when uploading a lot here? When you package a lot all recolours will piggyback into that file as you have found. Even your bin and mailbox recolours will package. If you have used a few recolours but its confusing to know the exact ones, remove all recolours from your package file and link to the upload.

If you are talking about inside your own game you can delete recolours of the statue in game if they are not a repo'ed object. keep a Rar of this as a backup.

Place the statue on a lot and use the swatch tool on it. Scroll to the far end of the recolours and click on it. You should see a small bin /trash can appear to the right of that recolour window. If you hover your mouse over it it (don't click) it says 'delete custom content' If you click it the recolour showing will delete and the file for it will also delete in your download folder. I often use this method on new CC in a test folder while keeping a Rar of that item. That way if you make a mistake you can always install it again.
Once you have gone through and are down to the recolours that you want I would open each one in turn in SimPE and check the texture. Close SimPE and rename the file to something that makes sense. So instead of 'recolour1bycreatorX' I might change that to 'BronzeStauerecolourByCreatorX'. Just do a few at a time and like I said keep a backup.

Don't use that method on defaults.

I meant Clean Installer by Pack Clean.

I don't want to delete the Master and all versions of an item, just some recolors of it.

I tried to explain it is difficult to match what recolor file matches which file name.
I said images in Clean Installer are vague and not helpful.

I don't use SimPE.

I tried messing around more with the Edit Lot and Save/ Reopen with Clean Installer method with No Success.
Apparently joandsarah77's comment 'When you package a lot all recolours will piggyback into that file as you have found." rings True.
Guess there's No Point in continuing the Question anymore.

Thanx for answering.

Editing the lot file won't work for directly removing files from your game - it only edits the Sims2pack file. It can help you find files, though. If you untick the ones you want to keep, you can install just the files you want to remove, find them where they were installed, and then search them up to remove them (remove the newly installed ones, too + the lot file in Teleport).

The preview in Clean Installer should show the texture. You can make the preview window bigger, and if there are more textures in the file, you can look through them (the first one doesn't always show the best texture to recognize). You should see the filename to the right in the file (column heading says "FileName", not just "Name". You can expand it to see the full filename). Placing all the recolors you want to remove on a lot and then taking screenshots of them (preferably full size, either with windows button+printscreen, or a screnshot program) could work when looking for the textures.

Another method that's a bit more of a workaround, but works if you need to find spesific recolors - you need SimPE, and debug mode turned on ingame. When using the recolor tool or buy mode, you can hover over the different recolor thumbnails for the recolors and see the internal name string to figure out which file it is. You can screenshot the ones you want to remove, and look up the files in SimPE after (the lot method comes in handy here, too, since it pulls the recolors so you don't have to go looking for all the files first). Then you can search for and remove the individual files in your Downloads folder.
