Default Tuxedo/jeans outfit for formalwear
If anyone is familiar with the Lovejoy series (with Ian McShane), you'll recall how he almost never wears anything formal, and when he is forced to don a dinner jacket, he'll retain his blue jeans and cowboy boots underneath it. That's the sort of look I'd like to find... I'm sure there are plenty of folks who tend this way in their real lives and would appreciate a Sim version. The boots would be a bonus, but blue jeans with a tux jacket is the basic goal. I'd look for separates, but I don't think that works with formalwear... unless there's a way to get separates enabled in other categories besides everyday.

I wraps my hair around my bare,
And down the road I goes.

You can absolutely enable separates for formalwear (and other categories). It's done the same way as full outfits.

I answered a similar question here a few days ago, with links and info:

Lazyduchess has a mod that fully enables separates.

Separates for other categories also work without the mod if you enable them for everyday + the category/ies you want (the clothes can only be bought as everyday without the mod, and you need to buy minimum one top and one bottom for each category to enable them in the wardrobe).

Some creators who make separates already enable them for other categories.

Another option could be to recolor an existing tuxedo outfit to have jeans instead of formal pants. Probably the easiest, sicne there seem to be very few tuxedo tops to be found.
There are some ingame outfit that potentially could work (shown in PF's posts)

Those would all be great, only I'm... operation-systemically-challenged. As always, I appreciate the suggestions.
I might just go with one of those t-shirts printed with a tuxedo front; I saw one when I was searching the forum for tuxedos. My teacher used to wear a sweatshirt version of it on class picture day. However, that still wouldn't be formalwear. It's not a huge deal... my Sims usually only get really dressed up for weddings. Same as myself, actually.
