1970s threads
Greetings. I'm in the middle of a Rockford Files/Columbo/McCloud mashup hood, and could use a few sources for period appropriate men's clothing. Not hippie stuff, necessarily, which is a bit easier to find, given Simmers' collective propensity for creating the wild and wacky. I'm looking for everyday wear. Sears catalog fare.
Lapels were wide. So were neckties. Shirt collars were ridiculously long. Three-piece polyester suits were a big thing. Even pants that weren't exactly bell-bottomed were still quite flared by today's standards. And don't get me started on the ruffle tux.
Rockford himself doesn't conform to either the surfer scene or the buttoned-up look of the bank manager set. His checked sportcoats over a tucked shirt (but no tie) have so far eluded me. The base game clothing has one option that kind of sort of looks okay, but I'd be interested in something better.
So that's my shopping list:
1. A Jim Rockford outfit, or separates that could create one: sport coat, belted trousers, no tie. Ideally one that would work for both casual and formal, since Jimbo only wears ties when he borrows them from restaurants that require them.
2. Some other suit outfits with wide lapels and wide ties, especially 3-piece ones, for other hood residents.
3. And yes, the horrible ruffle-shirt tuxedo look of the day. I haven't tried Parsimonious for this one yet, which is my next stop.
That's it for now.
