I played The Sims 2 for twelve whole days before I added my first mod (Phaenoh's Phone Book).

Very sensible I think!

My sims usually end up bumping into each other at some point anyway, so I've never used that mod. But I can "Mark" sims in SimPE to teleport them if I need to.

Though, I think a teleporter would be great in real life, consider what it does:
A) It clones your physical form into data to send it to another machine
B) It recreates your physical form based on received data at the other machine
C) It disintegrates your previous body at the old location.

So in a way, you get a whole new body every time you use it, it's great!

Sorry for double post.

My pixels got married! It's the first time I properly tested out the wedding system, it works well! It pulls in all the family too, which was cool to see!

About those wants though mr pixel... Don't even think about it, I'm watching you.

It's all fine and dandy until the pattern buffer retains your information and beams it back to the original location. Then there are two of you, Will Riker! Or if there is a failure of the matter transference beam and you don't get rematerialized and are lost forever. Or worse, are held in subspace where you are both dead and alive at the same time in a ghostly limbo. Or, what about that time the pattern buffer got corrupted, and the resulting rematerialised people were so deformed they died soon after in agony? And don't even think about foreighn matter contamination of the pattern...

Yeah.. but think of it this way: Every day you're climbing under tables, desks, etc etc to wire (or un-wire!) computers, bending in awkward ways to achieve it - how many times are you left thinking "Aw me back! I'm getting too old for this holly!".

With a freshly materialised body you be good as new in no time, instead of your body being a thing from the past, it'll be a thing of the past and you'll have your new shiny one to live in! :D

And just think, instant international travel! You can travel from your penthouse in london to your cozy cottage in iceland in no time at all! Heck, you could even put a teleporter at both those houses, so you can have a dump at your penthouse, find it stinks too much and just teleport to your cottage to escape the smell!

Poor Tuvix, sadly murdered by Janeway.

Pretty sure your telomere caps are replicated too, so your 'new' bidy would still be old. For us, anyway- but for sims? They could have a whole new teenage body if they so wished!

When I used to watch them using the Transporter in Star Trek, I used to wonder how many failures they'd had before they got that thing to work. Which is why, as a total newbie in TS2, I didn't want to entrust my beloved new Sims to an unknown teleporter!

I use the teleporter that comes with the Insimenator mod (spawner, looks like an open box). Works like a charm, and I don't need any extra mods I don't already have

The version I'm using also has an inbuilt teleport function, so sims can teleport around on the lot. Very handy (especially for slow sims and for picture taking, because sometimes it takes too long to wait for them to walk across the lot).

Teleporting would've been quite useful in real life, at least if it was safe (it doesn't sound very safe, when you really think about it).
