The in-your-face icons and card system with shallow decisions to make looks not great to me? I hope it's a good game that's fun to play but for the life of me I can't see myself getting invested in a game that gives me pop up cards to play when the toilet breaks.

(FWIW, show don't tell is what brought the Sims 2 sims to life for me--not chance cards. When I told my shy sims to go socialize and they got that dejected look or I bought something and the sim cheered I LOVED that. That little bit of feedback made me care about them and want to cater to their personality. The subtle details slowly pulled me in, sold the simulation and charmed me.)

I completely agree that there should be more idle animations for characters reacting to what the player orders them to do. I also think what Paralives misses are lifetime wants or something similar under a different name. That could help with making paras more alive to the player.

There will be memories and wants, but nothing was mentioned regarding lifetime wants or goals so far. It makes me feel like paras are missing something.

EDIT: A video from Simmer Erin! A lot of new information in the dev chat: all of the jobs will be rabbitholes, information about the autonomy of townies, lots of premade outfits that will be randomly assigned to townies and other news.

I am looking to Paralives with great interest and I do like some of the decisions that they are making such as application points and upgrading your abilities at work, which is something that I wish The Sims 3 or The Sims 4 had done. That said, I am not sure how I feel about the card system. Obviously we have to see it in action for ourselves beyond a video, but it will take time to get there.

Link to the accomplishments of the Paralives team throughout the year.

The team has created 637 new build and buy items, which is insane (insane in a good way though). Paralives now has 136 new animations and 50+ new gamplay features. This was a good year for Paralives!

The paralives team has started to work on the layout of the town; they are working on the creation of the town. That is what is written in the development page. I am not going into detail because the post is under a paywall.

They have also designed a lot of toddler animations, but, again, that post is under a paywall.

EDIT: I apologize for the double-posting. I thought that it was ok, since my last post was written three weeks ago.
