Default Population Limit? Neighbourhood Crashes During Loading
I've played the Sims 2 Super Collection for many years now, and I keep encountering the same problem time and time again: as soon as my Sims reach more or less their 5th or 6th generation, and a new baby is born or a new character introduced, the neighbourhood never loads again, even though the game itself seems to be functioning perfectly correctly.

I've just experienced this for the umpteenth time... I thought that the key was not to introduce any new HOUSEHOLDS after a certain point, as that seems to be where the neighbourhood has become unplayable, so I limited my number of households to around 12 and kept it at the same number for many generations. I really hoped that this time, my town would stick.... but no! It's happened again!

I've deleted mods. I've reinstalled the game. I've kept my population low... but every time, around the 5th or 6th generation of Sims, I lose everything.

Does anyone else encounter this, and is there ANY way in which I can stop it from happening? Some kind of download or patch? My game is up to date, as is my computer (MacBook Air).
Better yet, is there any way in which I could potentially play my crashed neighbourhoods again? They're still there, they just won't play. Other neighbourhoods will play perfectly well, but what's the point if I'm just going to lose it all again?

Any help or suggestions would be GREATLY appreciated!

Macs have an "open file limit" of about 12k files, which could be causing the issue, since it happens roughly the same place every time. I think it's possible to increase the limit in some ways - I'm sure the mac users here know better what to do.

Most Likely you have encountered the Mac's Maximum Open Open File Limit Issue when it comes to the Sims 2, the solution is for you to increase the numbers involved. Look at the Pinned Topic concerning the Maximum Open File Limit. https://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=608063

for info on changing the Mac Open File Limit check out my post here http://www.insimenator.org/index.ph...html#msg1628939

MacBook Air, OS Sonoma, LOADS of memory left on the hard drive.
I'm not sure how to upload the neighbourhood (this may or may not work), and though I do have quite a lot of custom content, the issue doesn't happen until a certain point. I can start a new neighbourhood with the same mods with no problem, until eventually the issue happens again.

RAM and harddrive space is not the same, and the OS doesn't say anything about the rest of the specs. As far as I know, there have been several versions of the Macbook air, all with different specs, so just listing the general variant isn't saying anything about the insides.

(According to Google, since I've not used a Mac in well over 15 years), click on the Apple icon in the top-left corner of your screen, select "About this Mac" from the drop-down menu. You'll see the processor (CPU), memory (RAM), graphics (GPU), and so on.

Just to help you, help per, I noticed that in pers screenshots #5 shows per has 8GB of system memory, and 1.5GB of video memory.

Also your CPU is at the bare min to run Sims 2 Super Collection.
Remember every memory your sims get adds to the number of files you can use for Mac.

If you don't have it I would recommend you get BO's no sims loaded mod because it help cut down on the bloat that can happen in Sims 2.

Didn't notice the picture

Isn't 1,2 GhZ low for running TS2, especially since TS2 doesn't do so well with multiple cores? I know it lists at least 2.2 GhZ for the full game on PC, and looks to be the same for the Super Collection, too (but I'm not sure how it performs with more cores on Mac, so could be fine).

It's still very low and can cause bottle net, I think multiple cores don't work on Mac just like Windows. (I could be wrong about this.)

Memories are not stored in separate files, as far as I'm aware. I'm pretty sure all memories and tokens and inventory items are just stored in the sim's character file.

It adds to the bloat of the game and with only having a 1.2Gh CPU it loads it up and can cause problems like what the OP is having.
