One of my sims is called Daisy, so I love watching my sims sleep and dream of the daisy icon in their thought bubbles, every time I feel that they are all dreaming about the girl

Finally got the game installed onto my new desktop, though I won't have time to actually play until Thursday. Let's hope the whole thing holds together.

Update: holy smokes the game CONSISTENTLY loads in less than FIVE minutes! And does everything else (saving/loading neighborhood/loading household) in less than 30 seconds! This computer is incredible. I'm actually going to be able to start playing more now. I hadn't been for months just because it took so long to do anything.

That's how I felt after setting up my new computer! I believe that "What do you mean it doesn't take 20 minutes to load??" was the actual phrase I used.

And then you get pink soup for the first time in your life and the excitement turns into misery ( • ᴖ • 。)

Oh yeah, what causes the pink soup anyway? I guess I need to know that now. I did get the graphics rules maker because otherwise everything was stuck at 800x600 and it was all stretched and blurry.

Not sure if it matters, but I don't get pink soup. I never get pink soup. The last time I saw a bit of pink soup was on my old pc

My laptop is rather middle of the road, I think, but it works like a charm

I swear the new middle of the road stuff is much better for running Sims 2. My "university" laptop is a killer machine for running the newest AAA games, but I've never had so many problems with the Sims 2, despite applying 4GB patch, graphics rules maker, modifying graphics rules myself in the end, installing RPC launcher for the first time ever, doing some tricks by LazyDutchess... And I still get pink soup/random crashing at times. I'm scared to even think about moving to Win 11.

So yea, wishing you the best of luck StrangeTownChick!!

Ugh. Win 11. I get constant messages telling me I need to upgrade, despite me doing the test and finding out that my PC isn't compatible.

Sure, I'll just buy a new PC. Are you paying for it?

I have Win 11 and a mid-range desktop, and rarely get pink soup or crashing. Of course when I do it's always after spending hours building a lot and not saving.

Yeah, not saving during play has given me a few crashes. I think the game gets overloaded with stuff in short term memory.

Is that what happens? That makes sense, it usually only crashes when I've been building for a while and haven't saved.

I've heard several people say it crashes on them while either building and forgetting to save or playing and not saving regularly. And I don't build, but I've have the same problem when playing for several sim days without saving.

So, considering that the game uses all the cache files while running and not deleting those can mess up your next play session because of the info still stored in them ... I have made an uneducated guess. XD
