Don't mind the ones in the "public" folder paths, it's just a Windows 10/11 thing. They're supposed to be empty, and as long as those are empty, they're fine, nothing to worry about.

Likely, your files were moved to the new location (Desktop?) when you removed OneDrive. I'm guessing the "Desktop" location is the one that the game now reads from, since it made new files there.

You should be able to copy over the old files (as in, delete the folders inside "The sims 2 ultimate collection" from the working path, copy/paste in the ones from the not-working path, and try running the game again. DO NOT OVERWRITE FOLDERS!!! Or you'll have even more issues going on).

(Make sure to do a backup of your old game first, just in case).

(Edited my post above a bit)

You'll need to figure out which path the game is reading from. Then you copy your old game over there (again - delete, then copy/paste files, don't overwrite).

I don't know how. My game thinks there's no mods, cas sims, etc when those sims are all located in all my sims 2 savegame folders (idk why i have multiple.)

In your last image, are all of the usernames identical, or is the uncensored one different from yours? It's normal for a game to make save paths for all users.

I still didn't get an answer about this-
"What is the full file path of the savegame folder in this image:"

The thing is though, there is a set of complete userdata in the expected location (shown on the screenshots). If the hoods are in the folder they should show in-game, even if CC is disabled.

There's a difference between the games - I can see that one of the savegame folders was created the 17th (desktop/Documents), while the other has been used for quite some time (Documents path). Which one the game is using? Most likely the one with the newly generated savefiles.

The easiest way to check which folder your game is using is to give it a test. You can do things like running Bodyshop and make a sim (see which SavedSims folder the file ends up in), or take C-button pictures in a neighborhood and see which savegame folder the pictures appear in. The folder path that gets the files is the one the game is communicating with. You can copy your game over to that one (again, remove old files from the folder and THEN copy/paste in your preferred savegame).

The old savegame should work fine from whichever path the game is reading from, once the files are in place.

The trouble with OneDrive is that it is kind of set up to make a copy of the files (OneDrive + regular Documents location). When you uninstalled it, I assume it chucked the OneDrive copy over to the desktop or some such, which caused the file paths to get confused, especially if the game was somehow connected to the OneDrive path.

It's ok, if you edit your post to remove where you quoted me and where you mentioned your username, I've deleted it from my post and you can delete the image from your old post too.

If you look at this screenshot though, there is only one folder. Which is confusing!

The game won't be reading from anything on the desktop unless you specifically moved the Documents folder there, which you would have remembered doing. There's a special OneDrive Documents folder that gets used when you have OneDrive installed, probably that one just got emptied out and now you just have to set Documents back to pointing at the regular folder in your User data.

Well, how to do that? How to change where my game is looking at?

Guys, guess what, i found out where my game is looking at!
It looks at "C:\Users\(username)\OneDrive\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection" . However, ugly onedrive is making duplicate folders for no reason

But how do i make it look at C:\Users\(username)\Documents\EA Games\The Sims 2 Ultimate Collection instead of the onedrive folder instead?!

If your entire documents folder is mapped to the OneDrive location, then you can change that by right clicking on the Documents folder in your profile and choosing properties. You can set the location there. Otherwise, if it's just your Sims 2 game that is pointing thee it would be a registry edit, so probably easier to reinstall if that were the case.

This discussion is why I'm going to completely remove the One Drive on my new computer before I even dare to install it-because it acts as the default location for the game.

After I do that, then I'll install the game into the new computer. Windows 11 is very capable of confusing itself and your game.

If you're setting up a new computer or reinstalling everything on an old one (including the OS - Windows 10/11), the best way to go about is to remove or deactivate OneDrive before installing anything. That way you can be fairly sure OneDrive doesn't cause any chaos. Some people have had OneDrive reinstall itself via an update, though I'm not sure how common this is.

Personally, I deactivated it before installing anything, and haven't had any issues (that I know of) from it. Has never tried to activate again, or do anything weird. It did make a folder on my computer, but as far as I know, no programs are trying to use it.

Well i reinstalled the game. Twice. When i thought i was done with onedrive the first time, it turned out my sims 2 game and my sims 3 (i shortly installed sims 3 after my game was fucked) were in the onedrive folder. Before reinstalling again, i installed onedrive, unlinked it and uninstalled it. I deleted the onedrive folder located in Users/Default too, i also deleted the onedrive folder in another user account on my PC. I also deleted OneDrive with the help of Regedit too.

And guess what, it worked! There was no Onedrive folder anymore. Onedrive was wiped off my PC.

Before you reinstall your game because Onedrive steals your files and saves them, i'd suggest backing them up, unless you're wanting a new start for your game. If you're gonna install Sims 2 or any sims games, make sure your PC is unlinked to Onedrive so the game doesnt get fucked and saved to onedrive...

Then, after OneDrive was unlinked, and your game was installed, you may now replace the fresh new files with your backed up files!

Yeah that's a good idea! Unlinking Onedrive so your game doesn't get fucked doesn't just apply to the Sims Games, it applies to games who have their normal Game in Program files (x86) and a save game in the documents folder, If you want to backup your files, https://sims.fandom.com/wiki/Game_g...ng_up_your_game

Reason why i uninstalled onedrive is because the welcome window kept appearing every single SECOND and it pissed me off. not only i fucked my game, i fucked my PC.
Next time i will always disable on every PC i own

When my old computer died, I physically removed the working hard drive with my game folders-to have the working backup and all my game intact. Because it's a new OS for me, I'm going to install the game from physical disks only after I've done some serious reformatting of the new computer.

So I do have a backup..in fact, 2.

Redundancy is a good thing in computers. Always.
