So, a Coach Collaboration is coming tomorrow.

Initially, I thought it was a Kit or a Stuff Pack. As an adult Simmer, I would have purchased a Coach kit.

Somehow, SpongeBob is paid content but Coach is free? A Coach pack to build up a retail boutique storefront would have been such a great pack, even with the ability to purchase or try on coach clothes from a clothing rack, wearable handbags.

Why do they miss all of the good opportunities to expand the game? At least it’s free.

Also, they could have repurposed the suitcase animations for handbag. I don’t known anymore.

EA being performative as always.

I did not know that inclusivity was so important to EA (or at least it was). What were they thinking with this whole mess regarding the buyout?

Somebody wrote a comment about EA being socially liberal, but fiscally conservative, and I agree. But, their actions do not match the words! I have a feeling that EA CEOs are clowns and they are mocking to us a lot.

Also, a reminder: you are not phobic if you care about women not being murdered or violated against or if you care about LGBTQ+ people. This is not about religion, and regardless of what is written in the bible or quran.

Apparently, a Collector's Pass is coming and I have to wonder... a pass for what exactly? They keep adding new ways to pay for this game, but an apartment can still wreck your save file. Where is all of the money going? It took them a decade to even release an expansion pack with as many gameplay objects as their first expansion pack. Things feel bare and hollow. What is happening behind the scenes?

Edit: How did we get Grand Staircases before Spiral? They're also 9 steps high, so how do they work? That looks like a build mode nightmare. Maybe they're modular?

Edit 2: Maxis Also announced two kits, both related to the pack. Silver Screen Style & Tea Time Solarium. The Architecture is absolutely amazing, and the build/buy items are great, but I'm not seeing many gameplay objects. Thrones, woo-hoo clocks and sword fighting? :vlol:

Edit 3: You get two kits when the expansion drops for free when you order through mid march. :vlol: Scandals feel like what Blackmail was supposed to be in For Rent, that you find when snooping. Doesn't feel like a lot is happening, though.

Edit 4: I feel like there should be something to manage the lives of other people. If you're doing to have a Kingdom you rule over, I should be able to impose influence over the lives of Sims within my Kingdom. Scandal and Aristocracy are fine, but why can I not rule over my kingdom? It feels very superficial and surface? NAPs feel like they do more to control Sims than Nobles do.

For Example:
- Influence Media To Encourage or Discourage NPCs & Their Behavior
- Determine What's Considered Legal & Criminal Behavior
- Enforce Taxes On Goods & Services, Restrict Bills, Etc.
- Limit Imports & Exports On Goods & Services
- Encourage or Discourage Tourism
- Establish "Kingdom" or "Neighbor" Sentiment with a buff or debuff on certain Interactions (Like, "City Of Romance", "City Of Culture", "City Of Crime")

This would give significant influence over each neighborhood (if ruled over).

Edit: There's also a new lot type called a "Backroom" - Library/Gym/Museum by day and Nightclub by night - which sounds seedy but there's nothing new to do in them, so what's the point? There's not secret backroom door, or new table games (like poker or something to gamble), so what's the point of a place to lead a double life if I have no reason to go there?

I can't get over them making the African kingdom just a random neighbourhood in an otherwise European world. I totally saw it coming, but, like, come on!

I wonder if they'll get around to fix the family tree... seeing as this pack is about "legacy". As it stands now, if a ancestor ghost gets culled, all family ties breaks.

It feels like this pack is reusing a lot of previous content. Swordfighting from Batuu, fame system from Get Famous, "influence" from Eco Living, scandals from For Rent.

A couple of people have pointed out that this expansion seems to borrow a lot from the Royalty mod...

Like... what's the difference between the other two "royal families"? Other than the names they seem to be pretty much the same.

Now, I do think it's fun that one of the royal families is Capp. Which I know from Veronaville in the Sims 2. (They were in Sims 3 too wasn't they?)

If they have the Capp family, surely there will also be the Monty family living in same region, one always looking to supplant the other lest Romeo and Juliet make good on the love and peace aspect. We cannot have one without the other, right?

And the Thebe family, again with the European Royal theme like the Capps. Are the Thebe family meant to be the Monty replacements? They are already the bloodline of Princess Cordelia, a Thebe long since living in Tartosa, so I guess she, Cordelia's ghost, might be some kind of mystery quest giver and historical lore and story teller lurking in the new world region. Maxis did hint she'll be back. Don't tell me they've kept her alive all this time! Sailing the seas in her submarine, loving jazz and her host of pirate boyfriends all the while. A good time to reintroduce the return of the Fountain of Youth object, methinks. Cordelia found it on her travels.

Then again, are they all just supposed to be Nobles, as there can be only one true Monarch of them all? Akk, what does it matter. My dream of an egalitarian sim republic just took a kick in the ass either way.

Currently on the lookout for some old, second-hand, used French guillotines, should anyone know where to point me in the right direction.

I wonder and trying to understand (i wasn’t an avid fan or geek for royalties, kings/queens or the test of time player) what will the mechanics/systems bring to the table, if a player chooses to incorporate the gameplay flexible, not just theough storytelling means? Anyone have any examples or think of ideas where the UI elements/perks from this pack could be used?

Btw, I came onto youtube to find unhinged comments under official trailer. I was not disappointed Even others know how its not gonna work based on their playing experience. Like allowing the player to turn off all phones in the game would have made the pack better, because at least it would give the environment for players to play 16th century or whatever, allowing to use the CAS and BB items for storytelling without a single technology advancement ruin the immersion. Had they not made smartphones heavily idle-prone and kept newspapers delivery (toggleable like in TS3) thing in TS4, they would have then already given the tools for players to recreate The Sims Medeival feel in the main standalone game.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

Personally I think coming out with a royalty pack when multiple countries all over the globe are struggling to become - or keep - democracies is more than unbelievably tone deaf. Coolspear1 I think you might be right about how this is all somehow supposed to appeal to the new Saudi owners.

I'm always interested in the build/buy content but right now this pack holds no interest for me. The game needs slow dancing but not a historical one from Regency England. I want stuff that can be incorporated in all kinds of gameplay. How do all these 'royal' families fit in if I want to make my own sim to be a ruler? The only way this would make sense is if this was a completely separate world like Batuu, which I do not own but if I understand correctly it's rather stand-alone in terms of gameplay. Ugh. What in the world have they done with this game.

This pack needs a lot more than slow dancing.

Even when looking at the dining room scene, there was limited build/buy items. For example: There’s no new dining room table or chair, only a modified base game set.

As an expansion pack, here did the budget go? All of the features are modification of existing content. Adventure awaits had actual gameplay items (even if pulled from another pack). Here, we get to look forward to Sword-fighting, a clock/tunnel thing, a magic mirror (which looks world locked) and the sword in stone (also world locked).

It feels like a remake of Mansion & Garden stuff with gameplay attached.

it's gonna be interesting to see how many simmers who claim to be progressive and support LGBTQ rights still buy this pack after EA accepted blood money

Maxis is weird. They announced a Market lot type but didn’t specify what it’s for. Will Sims show up at random to Sales Table to sell random collectables?

Old dented crowns, Royal gowns full of stabby holes , bent swords, framed Royal proclamations, vials of poison..... all the essentials and memorabilia of a Royal dynasty I guess.

I don't care really, it all sounds like a stupid, re-hashed cash grab from a company that ran out of ideas and sold it's soul to the highest bidder a long time ago. (I'm talking even Sims 3 here & that Rod Humble fiasco that turned the series into a treasure hunt)

Can somebody explain to me why the blonde lady/queen has purple eyes? Was someone reading ASOIAF too much? I know that the Targaryens have purple eyes (not in the show though).

It’s weird because the team has ideas, but they don’t actually use them. They’re rehashing the wrong content as well. Business & Hobbies not having Salons is a weird oversight, if we’re talking about reusing content.

I still want that 90’s pack they suggested.

Their implementation was always (or most of the time) weird, hence why I refused to switch to that game.

Also, watching at a trailer - there’s hardly any gameplay despite that aren’t just social interactions or just graphically designed explanation how “ruling” works. Into the Future has a last EP while yes, it has a similar problem where objects and lots were heavily futuristic themed, the gimmicks it had with hoverboards, new elevators (tubes) and clothing shops were enticing for even players who didn’t see sole playing that timeline. This? If I didn’t know better or the title of video, I’d assume is a stuff pack with the reused sword fights. Are players really be paying 40$ for three worlds? Then again, its reminiscing of TS3 Store thing where virtual worlds were created in exchange of real big money.

P.S. Sorry for my bad english.

Into The Future did what for 3 what Apartment Life did for 2. It sought to be highly innovative, high budget, and very stylish, introducing a lot of new features, adding a lot of content, and feeling like a last hurrah before moving on with a ton of features. Both adds a lot of what’s missing and add a new twist on existing content. For example, both have a new small pet system.

Although into the future has a layer of futurism, it can replace a lot of content without completely removing the need for it. It has an occult & competitions for them, new vehicles, a new instrument, a mall, a restaurant, new traits, a futurist version of most of the base game items and a lot of variety with them (like there of maybe 8 new car models, and a motorcycle on top of the new vehicles), while also moving forward a lot of objects (like pool tables and arcade cabinets). It can absolutely stand on its own as an expansion pack and gives players a lot of content.

While Royalty & Legacy is a new concept, I feel like a lot is missing for what is looking to be a UI centric pack. This would have been a great way to introduce more weird mansion gimmicks (Like an actual bookcase door, nectar casks, trophy rooms with security displays), grounds games (golf driving ranges, badminton, polo). We have grand staircases but I wonder how they work. They have paintable walls but the railings are curved. Is it all staircases or just certain styles? Are they exclusive to this pack or is one patched in?
