So, i recently downloaded this hood called Aileens Landing:

It has a custom skybox and i think you need to have the original skybox it was based off. So i have the custom skybox and i also have the original skybox, but for some reason when i open the hood both the skybox and the water in the hood give me pink soup. I've played the sims 2 for many years and I've pretty rarely experienced pink soup. Is there a way to fix this?

Jawusa's skybox uses 2048x and 4096x textures, which on their own are known to trigger pink-flashing, especially if your game already is on the verge of getting it (even if you haven't seen any before*).

The sea reflects the sky (aka skybox), so that's likely the reason the sea water appears to be flashing pink.

(*2048x textures for an object, plus for some skyboxes were the only times I saw any pink-flashing on my old laptop. Found out later I hadn't done the 4GB patch. So make sure you've done that one).

I think i already have the 4gb patch :')
