Default Robotics and servos!
Hello Simmers!

Happy New Year to everyone! Well, here I am with a question (or several questions) about robotics in The Sims 2... I recently needed a cleaning robot. I'd never used one before, but this time I decided to give it a try... Honestly, it's terrible! Of all the things Sims have created, this is the worst! It breaks down every day (even twice a day)... I looked for a mod on this forum and found the "djslessrobotbreakage" mod, which works well. But now the family servo breaks down twice a day (I don't know if this is normal, just a coincidence...). I always used the sentry robot, and it only breaks down very rarely (without mods). It's the only thing I use in my Sims once they have a good robotics skill. It's not normal for it to break down so often (cleanbot )! My question is, is there a better mod than that one? My other question is... are servos immortal? I mean, do they never die from anything? Unless there's a mod that makes them die? If there's no mod for that, is it safe to delete a servo? (You know, move objects on and delete...). My other question is, that cleaning robot looks really ugly... Is there a cleaner like an iRobot or a Rombaa? (I don't know what they're called in the US), one of those that cleans the floor, usually round, and that actually cleans (a functional object). You'd be a big help! Thanks!

Servos are indeed immune to many deaths in the game. Not all, but many. Just off the top of my head, Servos can die by satellite and cowplant; vampire Servos can also die by sunlight, IIRC. I believe they can also die by fright, although there are mods (like Amok Servos from Cyjon's Ghost Hack) that'll make them run amok instead.

There are replacements for the robots e.g.
https://cozy-sims.tumblr.com/post/7...roomba-defaults
https://logansimmingwolverine.tumbl...-vacuum-default

Please, don't delete a servo. It's a sim, like any other regular sim, not an object. You can give it 'plastic surgery' to make it look different, some people make them look like normal sims [they keep the robotic voice]

Oh! I loved that replacement. Turns out I said it right (Roomba, hahaha). They're called something else here. Those look amazing! I'm going to try them out today. Custom content objects are fine too. Thanks! You guys are the best!
Ah, I hadn't thought about the plant cow and the satellite. It's just so hard for a servo to die... (I've never seen one die). And once you create it, they stay put, they don't die. I'm not cruel, but after two generations of Sims, it's time for the robot/servo to rust and stop working for good. That's why I asked. Since it's a family member, deleting it might mess up the game. So, the only thing I could think of was using the inseminator and letting them leave the family as townies... Is there any other way for the servo to be retired? That hack by cijon, I see it's to prevent the servos from dying, or did I misunderstand? Sorry, English isn't my first language, thanks for your patience

The Cyjon hack I mentioned only prevents Servos from dying by fright, though as mentioned, it'll run amok instead. Also, it turns out that Servos are immune to fright death by default, due to how its death check works, although Fright Death Tweaks (also part of Cyjon's Ghost Hack) changes that. Lastly, just as a reminder, most if not all of the Ghost Hack mods require Smarter EP Check.

But I want them to die or disappear, and with that hack, I protect them more...
