Sims 3
Default How reliable “Dashboard” tool is to detect conflicts between mods? Are there better alternative? How to avoid conflicts?
Can i rely on this tool for conflicts? Any other better alternatives out there?

I don’t know what each mod i install changes/edits/adds to the game. I want to go through all the mods and download the ones i like. Problem is finding some issue with the said mods because of conflicts. Being picky helps so far.

For years i wanted to setup fully modded game but ended up giving up on it due to running out of time.

I have the time now but i don’t wanna end up with a mess after downloading like 100+ mods.

What are your tips to download bunch of mods while avoiding issues? Beside reading and being picky, of course

Are you talking about mods or custom content?

It's worked well for mods for me since it's been around.

When it comes to custom content, it may show conflicts between pieces of the same creator. There is a reason for that, that I don't understand, but it's not normally an actual conflict.

Don't dump hundreds of mods/CC in your game at once. Add small amounts of CC, play with it, see if it creates problems, and the do the next batch.

That applies for mods even more.

Can you explain a bit more what kind of mods you want to add to your games?

You might read this current thread too about what conflicts when it comes to current popular mods.

Thread you linked is my previous thread?

I want to add both gameplay mods and CC

Idea is to look through all gameplay mods on here and download the ones i want. Test it, then download other sections.

Dashboard is a good tool to have, but not a catch all. It doesn't catch core and script mod conflicts. Here on MTS, most modders will list knowwn conflicts, and it's a good idea to read them. Many such mods may use the same resources, such as Social Data XML's. Dashboard won't show this type of conflict.
