This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Pets, Showtime, Supernatural, Seasons, Island Paradise, Into the Future
Default Identifying CC from a .sims3pack that doesn't appear in the launcher?
I'm pretty experienced at moving around folders/files/mods/CC, but I'm not sure what to do here. I need to find some CC that is evidently a .sims3pack, but isn't visible in my launcher.

For context, I had two pairs of CC contacts in my game for the longest time. After I added some new stuff, removed some unwanted .packages, and installed some performance patches (Sims 3 Settings Setter and Sims 3 Performance Patch) the other day, which shouldn't have made any change to my installed CC, I went into CAS to find that those two contacts were gone. These have been in my game for ages, so I have no idea what the name or creator was for either of them, so I can't just redownload and reinstall. I've checked my personal downloads history on several CC sites and in my browser, no luck.

I couldn't find any .package files in my recent deletions that could possibly be the contacts, so I moved my /The Sims 3 folder out of /Electronic Arts and began running a backed up folder I saved two weeks ago, when the contacts were still appearing in my game. They appeared in CAS again when I ran this old folder. After checking for any packages using the method with NRaas Master Controller + Integration and then NRaas Packer, I couldn't find any packages in that Mods folder with the same instance and group number as those contacts, ruling out that they disappeared because of a .package I had since deleted.

So, I went through the launcher's installed Content List and looked for them. No contact lenses show up as installed content, and EA conveniently never created a search bar or sort options for the launcher, which would help a lot. Sigh.

My last idea was to take my DC Cache folder from the two-week old The Sims 3 folder and transplant it into the folder I'm currently playing with, since DC Cache folders hold onto your installed content. Then all I would need to do is reinstall any .sims3packs that I've installed since then and move along. I need to know a few things first:

  • Would this bring my installed Content List from two week ago back to my new playthrough without breaking anything else?
  • Do I need to bring over the old ccmerged file, replacing my newer one, from the old DC Backup folder in order for it to work?
  • If I bring in the old ccmerged file, would that break any new .package files I've added to my Mods folder since two weeks ago (because there have been a lot)?
  • Are there any other ways to hunt down these two specific items?

Going forward, I'm converting all my .sims3packs to .packages to avoid this mess, but I would really like to figure out a way to get the contacts back into my game. If anyone has any advice, I would appreciate it!

Just sharing an update! Since I didn't get any replies, I backed up my Sims 3 folder and started messing around. I added the DC Backup folder from 7-15-2026 to my game and copied over that ccmerged file into my game, too. The contacts didn't reappear, so I went back to the 7-15-2026 folder entirely and tried adding back my current Mods and SavedSims folders only. The contacts wouldn't show up. So, I knew the problem was either Mods (as in, something new conflicting with the CC I'm looking for), SavedSims, or one of the two performance patches I installed.

I added a fresh copy of the 7-15-2026 folder to Electronic Arts and I basically just tested the patches first to see if assigning fresh settings to S3SS caused the problem, and when messing with that didn't make them disappear, I moved on to slowly adding the .packages I installed since the 15th, playtesting to see if they were back in CAS. I managed to get through all of my new .packages without the contacts disappearing, though I did have a startup issue with NRaas Relativity in the folder (anybody else with that one?).

Then, I deleted everything from my 7-15 SavedSims folder and replaced it with the sims I'd saved since 7-15. Open the game, aaand... they're gone again. So the culprit was found. I got back on the forum and found this post by another user stating that they had uninstalled .sims3pack CC that still appeared (albeit as blank/black spaces in CAS) in-game, and only were able to get rid of it by clearing out Sims that had used that CC in their SavedSims folder. So apparently, this folder holds onto CC that has been uninstalled even when caches and other areas have uninstalled it. I don't know why my CC was still appearing in normal condition (not black space), but it seems like this is what was most likely happening.

So the good news for me is that I know what not to mess with if I want to keep them in my game. Bad news is, I still have no idea who the original creators were and how to reinstall if I want to. Just leaving this update here for others' benefit, if they have the same issue.
