...You can choose the pattern of seasons for each neighbourhood.
This means...
I DON'T HAVE TO HAVE SNOW IN STRANGETOWN! Yes! Thank you, Maxis!

Add to that the sunburn, different hair for different outfits and storing leftovers in the fridge, and I am SO buying this EP!

This EP looks a lot better than I thought it was going to be, I was wondering how they were going to make weather interesting.
But looking at the screenshots and descriptions, it seems that have made it very interesting.

I'm looking forward to this now, should be great.

Default Penguin!!!!
hehehehe, thanks Tiggerypum, i was thinking more to the line of sims can call someone to come in and do the roofing and painting for them, and it will cost them. Doesn't really changes how the paint work look, much like another NPC, I am hoping also we can call a pool guy/gal romance sims would love those.

> mwahahahaha. maybe milkman too :D

Ooh, thanks for these pics Tiggerypum- I'm really excited about this EP now! I know everyone really wanted Pets, but they were never number one on my wish list. But the growable vegetables were, and the plant person is adorable! I really missed the vegetable gardens from the original sims, and I wonder if we'll be able to bake carrot cake and get rabbits in the garden? I was looking through all of the pre-release pics I've saved from each EP and I noticed that creators always make custom content before it comes with the game... we had half walls before Uni, locking doors before OFB (Inge!) and wall clocks before Pets (Boblishman). Now I already have piles of leaves I can jump in (Mod Squad), weather (Carrigon/ Simslice) and harvestable vegetables (Echo), but I still can't wait for this!

Oh this looks amazing! EA had me at gardening, they needn't have added in the snowball fights, marco polo and fishing! (Although I am extremely glad they did!)

Tiggerypum, how do you get a Plant Person? She looks so cool! And do you know what the advantages/disadvantages of being a Plant Person are? I will definitely be getting me one of those. I've never introduced a single zombie, vampire or werewolf into my game, but Plant People?! I'm there!!!

My avatar was the most beautiful teen I ever had in TS2, in a custom neighbourhood sadly lost to time about three laptops ago, but still remembered fondly!

I was wondering one thing (I may have missed it in the news, if it's there); it's been clarified that they freeze if they're dressed too lightly in the snow, but can they overheat if they dress too warm in the Summer? Or does the game not have special Summer clothes?
#33 Old 8th Dec 2006 at 11:06 PM
It's a bit [can't find the word] over the top, having sims freeze in winter etc. I mean you'd only do that in Antarctica or something..

Ah, thank you, Faithlove

I think it's a great idea to have them freeze/overheat. Adds to the realism.

Yaay! I'm soo happy! This is P E R F E C T..sims can now put leftovers in the fridge!! :]

I think that if you sent them out in outerwear (outerwear is only warm clothing for bundling up) in the summer they might well overheat, but I did not test that, or their comfort might drop a lot, something along those lines. The regular casual wear would be considered 'summer' clothing (along with swimsuits)
Clothing is assigned values by the category (as in is it 'warm' or not), like undies or a swimsuit would be considered 'does not keep you warm at all', regular clothing in the middle, and outerwear as 'keeps you warm'. The game cannot know if you put something that looks warm in regular clothing, or if you categorize a swimsuit into 'outerwear' once you have the game. So basically, your normal clothing is 'summer' clothing - the current game is set in summer. Look at most of the Maxis clothing, much of it has short sleeves even.

And Melanie, you are sadly mistaken. A family got stranded in their car in Oregon, and the father headed out for help and he's now gone. http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,235409,00.html

What happens in the sims is far cuter, and heck, those are only pixel people anyway

Actually they can pass out from too much heat! lol, I've been watching pictures all day and I am in love with this EP. There's so many new and cute stuff, and all matches, I'm extatic! I've even seen a windrooster and a lightning rod! And the country furniture is wonderful, wonderful, wonderful! And the skates, and the snow, everything looks so perfect! Can't wait for it to come in stores!

Thank you for clearing that up, Tiggerypum

Ooh, I love the leftovers feature too. I've been wanting something like that for a while.

you know what would be really nice?
to put extra categories in the accessories in the change appearance screen
because there are so many things like earrings, necklaces and many other things(swords,guns,...) .
and the picures in the screen only show a part of the body, so its somtimes hard to know what you have put on your sim.

"Seasons" is probably covering everything I could expect from it, (I was worried at first). This is going to be great! Cant wait til February!
I already play a custommade winter-hood, but if I wish to change a season "manually" back to summer, I have to change all the terrainpaint and the hood-deco, and that makes the game really hard to play uptil now. So Ive been aticipating something like this forever.
I loved the harvestable stuff in Sims1, and the fishing rod. This EP will also make it possible to recreate "Vacation" by making a custom winter or summer sub-hoods with communitylots where your sims can go for recreation and hollidays. Its just going to be the best EP so far, in my opinion. One thing though. I hope they "sync" the astrological signs with the seasons, so an inborn sim cant be born a Pisces in "July" or so. That would annoy me...

weather (Carrigon/ Simslice)

That was actully Maxis who put that in there, but it was turned off. They found it and made it possible to play (but couldn't fix it raining indoors)

I do think Sims can tan, so yay! Will this mean we need sunscreen?

I think this should be renamed Unleashed, because like the S1 Unleashed its given us a ton of little extras that make the game *real*

I can NOT wait for this expansion....I don't think any other expansion has had me this excited...whoo hoo!!! I don't even know where to start there seems to be so many great things they are adding...kudos to Maxis...seriously...I am spazzing out LOL!
#44 Old 10th Dec 2006 at 4:51 AM
I just hope there will be a way to turn seasons completly off in certain houses. This would be a pain in the butt for my models to have to dodge snow while taking a photoshoot...

Catwalk, make your neighborhood summer-summer-summer-summer, at least the ones your models live in. Or turn it summer before you go into the neighborhood (I think by changing the seasons it will reset for you)

I am with you on that one. Also for people who don't high end computers, could we have the option to turn off weather?

I am really looking forward to this expansion. I must admit at first I wasn't but since seeing the pics of a sun burnt sim I want it now. If we have lighting, could it hit trees and they fall down or start a fire?

Lightening can hit trees and people and objects on the lot. It sets them on fire. The people just get that crispy look they do, similar to electrocution.
