I'm another with an Intel card, and my game runs no worse than it did with OfB. It only lags on large lots and a little when someone comes onto the lot like the mailman or the maid. I don't have Pets by the way. I don't have the snow x-ray either. I was wondering why that was, and now I know.

i have an intel card with all packs and eps installed and it's been running with very minimal issues. i have 503mb(slightly below what is really recommended) of ram and decent processing power though.

i play on a smaller lot with my graphics turned on high, but with no shaders. our cards don't support the new water reflection but yeah, other than that the only time my game hiccups a little is when neighbors/mailman/paperperson/pets happen by, but just for the period of time when they are appearing or disappearing. i had my sim go to cold issue clothing and assumed it would be a nightmare but it wasn't bad at all and there was something like seven sims on the lot.

start up times and loading times are about the same, and maybe even slightly better since i got rid of all of my cc with the exception of some clothes, make-up and eyes.

hope that helps.

Out of interest, can any of you with intel cards see the fish in the ponds or the fish tanks?

I could sware i used to be able to see fish (ages and ages ago, before OFB came out) in the fish tanks but I can't anymore, so maybe I was imagining it.

well if you type in this in the cheat thing "boolprop useshaders true" you should be able to see the fish, but it seems on my intel graphic chip anways, the pool kina messes up and has a purple bottom, i dunno, work with anyone else?

no, i cannot see the fish and haven't been able to (i actually never noticed i couldn't see them in pets) but i've decided i don't care, haha. as was stated above, the standard fix seems to be to use the shaders code but i can't be bothered.

I saw them with Uni, NL and OFB installed. When Pets came, my fish went, lol.

I can't see them (or the pond fish) now in Seasons either, unless I do the boolprop solution, which I do every now and then and just take pics of, lol.

Well this is what the game looks like on my laptop:
Toshiba Satellite A100 Series
Centrino Duo @ 1.60GHz x 2
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset 128.0 Mb
1015 Mb of Ram
Just posted so anyone with an intel chip or similiar set up and was wondering how it would turn out

Use shaders doesn't seem to work for me, oh well!

I have the Holiday '06 pack and I have an Intel chipset. Mine runs fine without the flashing red walls of doom.

Sure. Fine. Whatever.

I haven't heard of people having as many problems with Holiday, but it sure happens a lot with FFS and Glamour. You may be one of the 'lucky' ones! The problem is, is that a lot of people install the stuff packs and don't make a backup. Then they need to uninstall and they lose all their data. By reading the sys req. they can save themselves a lot of heartache. There are literally thousands of threads at the BBS with flashing wall problems caused by unsupported cards. Anecdotal evidence aside, I would be willing to say that most people will have a graphics problem with the stuff packs if they have unsupported chipsets.

I have intel and i am running GLF and FFS with no problems. I have never had any of these flashing problems - I guess I am lucky.

I have a laptop with one of those cruddy integrated Intel video cards, and it works for me just about the same as the base game alone did-- which is to say they're not wow graphics and I can't see fish in the ponds, but it's functional. Actually, I think I've lost what lag I had with only the base game.

Contemplating making Golden Sun stuff for TS2.

I hope this is alright as this is a rather old topic I'm bringing up, but does anyone know if there is a fix for the blurry clothes and textures that will occur after playing a while for the Intel integrated cards? I've only seen solutions for Nvidia and ATI cards, but none for the Intel cards.

It's annoying me to no end. Leaving and re-entering the lot is a temporary fix, but I don't feel like doing that every time my Sims' faces become a blur.

I am getting a cooler fan for my laptop, which I hope will ease the problem a bit, but I'm just wondering if there's a fix for the problem in case the fan thing doesn't work out as well. :\

Actually there is a fix, but I cant recall it off the top of my head, when i find it all put it down. Though I think it is very similiar to the other ones, I know it did help I just cant recall it at the moment :meh:

Oh, that would be great if you could.
#43 Old 11th Apr 2007 at 7:33 PM
Im not sure how great this will work on your computer or intel chip, but i set my config to this.

:for me ( this could be different for you)
1: right click your desktop and click graphic properties
2:choose 3d settings
3:turn Asynchronous flip - on
:depth buffer bit depth - 24 bit
:Anisotropic filtering - on
click accept or okay.
This is just what i decided to change after reading up on what some of that stuff actually means :moo: and it did seem to help ( for my set up anyways )

If you prefer you can force one or whatever of the texture compression, which might help speed it up but, makes the textures smaller or somthing of that nature.
Well i hope that helps, guess i cant put off studying for my Psychology exam any longer :claw: * there may be somthing im forgeting so if it doesnt work it may be somthing i forgot, my head at the moment is broken :dolt:

Awesome! Thank you! I'll try that out. Good luck for your exam, too.

By the way, does anyone have their "Smooth Edges" option greyed out? I do. :\
#45 Old 11th Apr 2007 at 9:54 PM
Yea, mine is grayed out to, just a limitation on the chip.

http://www.3dfxzone.it/dir/tools/3d_analyze/index.php

This small program 3d Analyze is an amazing program that from what ive understood, tricks, and emulates features and stuff older or built in graphic chips/ cards cannot preform.
So for example without this program, Oblivion will not run on my laptop, ( as the intel chip doesnt have a certian shader.) and by using this it can run. Battlfield 2142 is another example. ( or certian games that do run, run better with this/ and of course some just wont work)

This would be great for running The Sims 2, but for some odd reason, a very few games wont run with this, sims 2 being that few as it starts and then crashes afterwords. If someone figured out why, then you could make it so all the sims 2 features that are grayed out are now aviable. even with a low end card.
Basicly its your processer or whatever that does all of this so if you have a decent computer but low end graphic card, you while benifit.

True. But even people with supported graphics cards have had problems. It's just a matter of reading and updating your drivers also. And yeah, I must be one of the "lucky" ones. *snark*

Count yourself lucky. Supported card problems are usually due to driver problems. In particular, Nvidia cards, which Maxis has addressed, but not fixed. I wouldn't touch one with a ten foot pole until Maxis/Nvidia get their act together. *hugs her Radeon card* LOL I don't have anything against Nvidia, they make terrific cards, but I'm not willing to deal with the possibility of blue screen crashing just to have that brand. I'm sure we'll all hear from Nvidia supporters now.
