Wouldn't say no to having everything from the original trailer (not necessarily including ripping clothes off, to keep it PG13, but everything else). Animations, interactions, items, etc.
Always really liked the stuff related to younger ages + pregnancy, plus all the couch animations.

There are bits and pieces from the trailer in the game, but most of it is sadly just trailer material...

Lol i remember when EA would literally scam people with their adverts. I honestly understand the backlash it gets these days...that trailer convinced me the sims 2 looked like that as a kid and was to some degree disapointed it wasn't

I know. I remember being quite hyped up, but I quickly realized pretty much nothing in the trailer was actual gameplay-related, just a visual representation of how the life stages in the game were supposed to work.

I didn't buy the game until very early 2006, so I got the chance to test it/watch over someone's shoulder while they played, and my expectations quickly came down to Earth - but in a good way. I did end up buying the game, after all (and I'm still obsessed 18 years later, so that's saying something).

A lot of game trailers used to do this with trailers (and probably still do). Trailer footage is often made separate from the game engine (cinematic trailers), and often comes out months before the game is finalized, so sometimes a bit of creative freedom is taken. If it uses game footage, it's often pre-rendered with all graphics turned way up high, and set up with styled scenes that aren't possible in the game, etc., so it looks much better/smoother than anything most people can do on their average laptop. The TS2 trailer is an example of a cinematic trailer. I think a lot of the TS3/TS4 trailers are likely gameplay trailers, but with styled/pre-rendered scenes, to accompany whatever storylines they're showing, possibly with a slight mix-in of cinematic elements.

Create-A-Style tool... I'm glad we did at least get recolorable objects though.

I remember after the GTA6 trailer dropped, a snippet of the game itself leaked and....I can say companies are still doing this!
GTA6 might not be done yet but that trailer looks MILES better than what is of the game right now

True true true! Hate how the sims 4 forces you into swatches...like now I got an ugly ass duvet with the headboard I wanted
AT least in TS2 you can colour both

A dropper for grabbing terrain paint off the ground and a search bar for everything in catalogue. Sims has been able to drink 2 years here already.

Sims 4 type interactions for toddlers once they've learned the basic toddler skills. Once they've mastered walking, talking and using the potty, I'd like to see them autonomously joining in games and conversations with each other, and with older children. While of course still talking in cute toddler voices, and maybe occasionally falling over.

In the Sims world, 13-year-olds can drink alongside adults at the "juice bars". I like that. None of them get drunk.

All Sims are beautiful -- even the ugly ones.

Happy Sims1 sims could sing in the shower, and one of the three baby interactions was "sing." I would like those back.

Ugly is in the heart of the beholder.

^ Yeah, I vaguely remember there were a few extra options (rocking/singing for?) in the crib. I think they used some of those for the bassinet-babies in TS4.

Other than that, I'm of the opinion TS2 babies are the best ones (TS4 infants don't count, they're basically just mini toddlers with different options - the babies/newborns still are kinda bleh, even if they have gotten a slight redo lately).

At times I kind of miss a color wheel, but also realize I'd never make it out of CAS or a house build in TS2 if I had access to one .
The amount of times I've had patterns/colors being completely blown out by the color wheel in TS3 is higher than I'd like, and the overlays make everything look like it's made of plastic. I guess it would be possible to fix this, but still - it does seem like they are aiming for this kind of look with both TS3 and TS4, which is a bit unfortunate.

I will take TS2's two subsets (with the option of having non-recolorable ones, too), over needing TS4's billion swatches to combine all options. I have no idea how the team managed to go backwards this hard, but they did...
More recolorable subsets would've been nice, though. 3 or 4, maybe. Would add a lot of options for repoing in particular.

Here it's been running around drunk for a couple years already (and is still crazy after all these years )

My own simming anniversary is well within legal drinking, voting and driving age by now, as well... Yikes!

In my country, Sims 2 has been drinking, woohooing, getting married and voting for some time!

I'd make three wishes (from the Genie).
1) Ability to load straight to a lot from game launch.
2) Fame aspiration as in this trailer. Also a fame subhood, like Sims 1's studiotown, where we could make studios and performance venues. I want to form a band, like Sims 3!
3) Button to allow reloading of a specific subfolder of the userdata, so that I can put custom content in-game and refresh things, without having to reboot the whole game. Maybe a test folder!

All I want is to be able to organize the Lot Bin from within the game.

More than one thing I'd like to see hehe.

The one I thought most recently was I'd like a collections file for CAS.

The ability to edit a neighborhood's map in-game; adding and removing roads easily.

AND

Being able to assign NPC roles to playable sims

I'm pretty sure there is a setting that allows you to load straight into a lot when you click on a neighbourhood! I've never used that setting so I could very well be wrong

Although The Cutting Room Floor never had mentions of a scrapped fame system in the game...I truly wonder if they ever intended for there to one! There is the show business career but in my opinion its lackluster.

You need to load a hood first, though (in debug mode) and then use the loadlot cheat. I'd like the ability to launch the game right into the hood and lot of my choice (because I like to play rotationally some times, so often know exactly which family I'm going to be playing).

Damn, that really looked like they had a Superstaresque Fame aspiration, but scrapped it. I suppose at least you can make a band with the musical instruments.

If you have to load a hood first and then put in the cheat, isn't that no easier than loading the hood and clicking on the lot?

Yes, that's why I want to be able to launch the game right into a lot! The loadlot cheat is really for loading hidden lots.

Some of my wishes for TS2 20th birthday:
- half-fat morph (it would work similarly to second trimester pregnancy morph)
- ability to choose fit bodyshape in CAS
- ability to set different make-ups, full face make-ups and glasses for different outfits
- ability to choose special outfits for Sims
- ability to change Sims' gender without exiting the game, e.g. via accessing CAS like in TS3
- semi-open neighbourhood (something alike to TS4, but compatible with creating our own neighbourhoods and maps) or something similar, to allow Sims to step outside lots
- power aspiration - some people just want to have power without socialising or dreaming about becoming wealthy
- another Ultimate Collection giveaway or at least putting UC on EA App, GOG or Steam to let players buy it. I missed the giveaway 10 years ago.

Yeah, I often don't give my sims make up because they look ridiculous wearing it to bed. Glasses, however, can be set for different outfits.

Yes, you can set glasses for specific outfits with SimPE. Perhaps I wasn't clear enough - I'd like for make-ups and glasses to work like BV jewellery.
