Default Problem installing .package13 (Original Sims 2 game)
When I try to install an error message comes up on 17% saying .package13 has failed to install, retry or cancel the installation. I have tried many times again and nothing works. I tried switching the drive i put my disk in, nothing. I tried changing where the game was installed, nothing. I don't think there is anything wrong with my disk, because I have installed the game on this same computer before complete wipe off and also on 3 other computers I've had.

Basically this all started when i got nightlife, i tried to install it on one of my other computers while the computer I am on now wasn't working. That was fine, except the other computer wasn't good enough to run the game. I forgot about nightlife for a while until this computer was fixed. I decided to install sims 2 and I get this problem. Please could someone help, because I really look forward to finally being able to play nightlife. Thanks.

Please don't simply suggest buy a new disk, it's probably not going to happen.

this appears to be a problem with that disk, judging by your numerous efforts. The only other thing to try is, you said that you previuosly had the game installed and it was wiped. Have you tried going into your "hard drive/program files/ ea games/ the sims 2 and deleting everything in there, even delete the actual ea games folder (unless there are other ea games purchased also saved under the ea games folder) then try a reinstallation.

Ensure also that any EPs that you have, have also been uninstalled and if so them delete their data in the same way, NOW try the reinstallation of origional.

If this works them it may be your computer. Try running a virus scan or spyware scan incase you have a bug preventing installation of anything. Could happen. not so likly to happen but it does.

You should also try downloading the sims 2 patch. at EA games you can find it. After installing the patch try again at installing the game. Here is a link to get the pacthes http://thesims2.ea.com/update/

It clearly cant be the disk so therefore it can only be the computer thats causing the error to happen. Although try contacting EA games before doing anything sill like scrapping the computer.

Hi all, I got it to work by copying the entire CD 1 onto the C Drive, then run the installer. It asked me for the remaining 3 cds, but they all worked fine, luckily. This may be closed.

My 2 expansion packs work well too!
