Default help with downloads, putting on a disc
please help,

I currently have 2 comp's, one to play sims and the other with internet and everything else. I downloaded some stuff and was hoping to put it on a disc and load it on to my comp with sims on but the disc wont burn,it just keeps coming up with errors?

Is there no way i can save the downloads to a disc?

thanks bubbles

First, have your formatted your disk? If its a brand new disk it first has to be formatted. THEN you can drag and drop your DLs to it. After you format and drag and drop you also have to finish the disk to be read on any computer.

I have the same thing.. this is my internet comp and the Sims comp is in my own room so I can be on it for hours without people saying Imma comp hog. But I think those are your issues you need to adress first. If you've done this and it still wont burn, the disk may be no good. Try a new one, format it.. and repeat as needed. Hope this helps.

I, personally have a program that auto asks me to format and when I eject it asks me how to save it.. etc.. but there is a way you can do it through the comp without the program, I just have to dig around and find whree.. so while I do that over here, try Googling "Direct CD" and see if that particular Roxio feature is a free DL. It will save your life if you can DL that program. You also might want to try Googling "Roxio Direct CD".

Okay here is how to format your disk.
go to my computer, click on the drive you have this disk on to open it as if you were going to drag and drop into the disk.. It should open it and it should read Compact Disk (E or D if you're using D drive..
Right click on the disk image above the words Compact Disk and it will give you a drop down menu. It will say Format somewhere in that list and then click on that/select that.

If that doesnt work for you let me know and I'lls ee whats what. Im using Window ME over here which is a super craptastical version of Windows.. so yours might be different.

most PCs come with a programme to burn CDs
XP also has a direct facility somewhere. but i have successfully burned many downloads onto CD with little fuss and bother. see if you have windows media player installed. this should do the trick

This is why I prefer thumb drives.

yeah a thumb drive is a good idea too, but they cost around $80 equivalent, at least here. if bubbles is in the Islington in England cost may be an issue, though London may be good for finding a bargain and theres always ebay...

You can get an 8 MB drive for just a few $.

not here. it is quite difficult to find anything under 128mb
even the cheapest i've seen at £15 ( p&p will be extra usually) might be hard for someone on a tight budget to afford

however, if you can afford one bubbles, and you are in the uk as i am thinking, then it might be an option for you. if not, search round your PC for a media programme, windows media player, or real player, something like that
