Default No one will touch the baby :(
Hi all. Sorry if this has been asked before, but I couldn't find the answer. I'm having a problem with one of my lots: no one seems to be able to pick up the baby out of his crib in order to feed or change him. The regular menu of interactions appears when family members are selected to interact with the baby, but then they just stand next to the crib and do nothing. I am able to cancel the action by moving the baby out of the crib with moveobjects cheat on, but the adults still can't interact with him while he's on the floor or when I put him back in the crib. So if anyone knows how I might go about letting the adults feed and change the baby again, the little tyke will be forever grateful. Hopefully I can fix this and get him fed before the social workers come and take him away!

Thank you for your help!

Firstly, do you have any hacks or downloads that might interfere? You can test this by temporarily moving your downloads folder to the desktop, and then trying the game. Can your Sims interact with the baby then?

Is it a Maxis crib or one you've downloaded?
Have you tried selling it and re-buying it?

another thing, have you waited long enough for the sims to pick the baby out of the crib? they stand there for ages before actually doing it. it used to catch me out and i'd be cancelling the action thinking it was some sort of glitch, but it isn't as such, just a pain in the bum

I ran into this problem a while back. I had used the move objects cheat to do some refurnishing. This involved moving the nursery to a different room. During the move of the crib, I accidently picked up the kid instead. When I put him back, his head was poined in the wrong direction. This made it imposible for older sims to pick him up as the infant was facing away from them (facing the wall).

Thank you all for your responses. I will try to answer everything in hopes of getting this figured out.

simsample: I do not have any hacks or mods that I know of. On the lot I'm having trouble with, there is no custom furniture but there are some bedspread recolours, etc. I removed the downloads folder and tried again to have them interact with the baby, but still no luck.
gwillewyn: it is a non-recoloured maxis crib. I sold both cribs (the baby is a twin but his sister doesn't seem to be affected) and replaced them, but that didn't work either.

anelca: I thought I just wasn't waiting long enough too, but unfortunately that's not it. When an adult is in the kitchen, for example, and I tell him to go hold the baby, he just stands there in the kitchen, doing nothing, until he pees himself. I can't cancel the action and make the adult go do something else, nor will he cancel the action himself and go pee! I moved the baby to the floor to cancel the action so my adults don't all starve, and it seems they can't pick him up from the floor either.

RoofMonkey: I tried moving him around inside the crib, and also flipping him around while on the floor, but still no luck.

So if anyone has any other advice, lay it on me! lol.

Have you tried to move the family out and back in? That seems to solve a lot of problems.

either use move objects and delete the baby, leave the lot, then go back.

~or~

type boolProp testingCheatsEnabled true
hold shift and click the baby
click force error(might have to click more)
click reset

angel f: I actually hadn't thought of that. I'll try moving them in and out next and see if it helps.

SimmySimSim: Do you mean, delete the baby and then leave the lot without saving? If I delete the baby and then save... won't the baby be gone? Don't do that to his twin sister, man, she'd probably miss him.

jesscasolace, no, deleting the baby will mean that when you re-enter the lot he will be re-generated and waiting next to the mailbox. But I'd try the other suggestion that SimmySimSim made first- force an error on the baby.

I posted this a minute ago, but there was some kind of error, so apologies if you're reading this twice!

Moving out and back into the lot seems to have worked for now. If this happens again with the next kid, I'll try resetting it with the bool prop cheat. So thank you all for your help!
