This user has the following games installed:

Sims 2, University, Nightlife, Open for Business, Pets, Seasons, Bon Voyage, Free Time, Apartment Life
Default Crash on move lot to Lots Bin
Well, I searched around, as to not invoke the wrath of the moderators, and found nothing like this. As the title states, my game crashes whenever I attempt to move ANY lot to the Lots Bin. Correction, ANY lot with a family on it. I have removed all my hacks, even cleaned out the entire house and just left the family, and it still crashes. This never happened before OFB, so I know it has something to do with its many bugs. I've tried everything logically posible, but to no avail. So, yah... any sugestions?

Is it just this one familt, or is it any family? Have you tried it with no hacks/ downloads?

Sorry, I wasn't sure whether you meant one family on many lots or just one family. So, did you determine that it wasn't a problem with any of your user data files?

It apears to be something unrelated to anything I did. Just another bug. I'll wait for the patch, see if it fixes it, and if not, I'll contact Maxis/EA and get a solution. The only reason I even move families with houses is to move them to another neighborhood, which is suposed to be a no-no. But hey, I got families and houses in old lousy pleasantview that I want in my new neighborhood, and its posible, so I'm guna do it.

Also, I seem to get constant errors with the music files. Sometimes they fail to load, other times they'll change stations... and when i go into the cheat box, you'll see a list a mile long of errors, all going back to audio files, configuration files, and brandi broke. She causes a crash whenever her sorry hide comes onto a lot.

I think a similar bug happened before, and back then there was only the original game.

It happened to me, and no one really knew why ... :p

The same thing w/ items in downloads folder not showing up at all, and then magically after a few days w/o changing any setting, they all showed up. Again, no one knew why. :P

Btw, Tthere are two possibilities that I can think of.
First, maybe your computer lacks of sufficient virtual memory or physical memory.
Second, if your system has enough of both virtual and physical memory, then it is possible that some files might have been damaged, which can be caused when the system is not properly shut down, and WinOS scanned for possible damage -- this itself sometimes damages files.

If I were you, this what I may do.
Backup TS2 files (in your doc folder), reinstall the game, then do one more backup on the default TS2 folder, and restore your first backup. If the problem goes away, fine. If not, you can remove and restore the default TS2 from your second backup. If the problem still remains, that will be weird ... ... Another unexplained problem, I guess XD ...

Good luck ... really

Belive me... *looks at his PC* I personally built this machine and meticulously picked out all the parts. I got 120 GB of hd space, and a gig of DDR400 ram. CPU is Athlon 64 oc'd to 2.01ghz. I'll try a reinstall after that patch is released. I take care of my pc, and make sure it shuts down properly every time. I degragment, scan for errors, remove spyware... bout once a week. Yes, I know i'm obsesive, but its what I do.

1 GB RAM is enough.

Then check the second possibility. :p

Do you know Win's scandisk can sometimes damage files, especially after the system is improperly shutdown?

Mhmm, I am well aware of that. My computer was rebuilt just over 6 months ago, so I assure you there is no damage. However, I did JUST recall how to manually move houses to the lots bin. I did it once before when a neighborhood of mine became unacessable. You simply find the lot in the neighborhood folder, move it to the lots bin, rename it, and its there. But, its also posible that by doing that last time, it is causing this complication now. I'm guna remove those lots from the bin, and see if it works.

If anyone still cares, I found out that only in pleasantview does this happen. I have a feeling its becase i manually moved a house from a non-existant neighborhood into the lots bin, and then placed it into the neighborhood. I'll try removing those houses, but I have a feeling it won't work.

The thread I originally linked to should help you with this.

I told ya, i've been though that thread many times. If i'm missing something, please point it out to me. I think this is not related to ofb, but to something in the game coding EA knew would happen, so they made it so we couldn't move families to diferent neighborhoods. However, there is a way, and I have used it. I feel its posible that this messed up the neighborhood.

What I'm trying to say is, that if the problem is with a specific lot, the method in the link will make that clear. What you need to ascertain is if this is caused by your user data, the game data or a game glitch. So far you have eliminated neither the user data and the game data being at fault, and so you cannot say conclusively that this is a game glitch. It seems to me that you have a corrupt lot for some reason, and that your problem with all of the inhabited lots corrupting is caused by some other problem. I can move inhabited lots to the lots bin with no problems.

It's either caused by impoperly moving a lot, or a neighborhood glitch. I contacted EA, game them the whole rundown, hope I get a good response. Told them how I moved a file from a non-existant neighorhood to the lots bin, and then placed it in pleasantview which is no longer functioning. However, the fact that this is only inhabiteid lots is what gets me...

Ever since I installed OFB I've had this problem, but only with some families.

I got around it by packaging those families into a file, then importing them via that.

Yes, I can move families, and move lots, but not move them together, its so odd. But THANK GOD!!! Somebody else has this too. I've only tested it in pleasantview and my custom neighborhood, I need to test it in strangetown and veronaville and see if its more than pleasantview.

Just to be clear, when you go to move a house that is ocupied by a family to the lots bin, your game crashes?

Yep, just pleasantview. I got the patch (still see no diference), and its still a no-go. I re created EVERY posible variable in veronaville that would cause it to crash like in pleasantview, and still nothing. The only other thing I can do is impoperly move another lot to the lots bin, place it in veronaville, and see if that place gets screwed up as well.

Does it happen if you restore a fresh version of Pleasantview?

Don't know, don't really feel like going into that sorta thing. Theres one way I can check if its related to that lot i moved, but it would require deleting it, which I REALLY don't want to do. I also moved a sim from pleasantview into bluewatter, several actually. Eh, this is getting too complicated. I don't even need plesantview anymore, I just need to package the families with the lot so i can move them to the new neighborhood.

Hey, if I just dumped all the lots from pleasantview into the lots bin manually, do you think it would work?

I pulled the following off of the cheat window:

Hey, uh, EA, buddy... WHY ARE YOU SO INCAPABLE OF MAKING A WORKING GAME??? Oh, and yes, this is another problem I have. Voices will ocasionally fail to execute, and the stations drop out after 2 songs.

Well, got an email from EA, basically telling me it was hopeless and they had no reason why this happened. However, droped a hint somewhere about completely packaging the lot, uploading it, and then re-installing it. However, the smart thing to do would be package, and then re-install to the lots bin. Family ties may be lost, but thats what insiminator is for!

I get those all the time, they don't seem to be that big of a deal. Have you tried reinstalling the game again?

Well you should try to reinstall the game to see if that works, if everything else you've tried didn't work. Reinstalling can sometimes correct many problems the game may have. If you do decide to reinstall, BACKUP your files, I can't stress this to anyone enough, because if you uninstall the game WILL delete the EA Games folder during uninstallation.
