mzcynnamon -- that's hard to explain in words =) it's basically a regular split level (i.e. i pulled down the walls with constrainfloorelevation false); there's a dummy level on the second floor that i use for the upper half of the stairwell. the downstairs part (that leads to the basement) is easier -- just a slope in the terrain -- the only "special effect" are two bits of wall that are flattened out to ground floor level where the landing is. not sure if this makes sense ... but if you look at the split level tutorials on this site, i think you can figure it out!

This is such an incredibly cute house, I could actually hug it!

Would have been nice if you could have squeezed it under 20k, but you've done a great job anyway!

How can you get light from the windows in your basement?

The foundation needs to be at least 2 clicks higher than default, then the light will come in. There's a short rundown of basement related stuff in the Build mode tutorials section, called "observations on basements", where this is explained + illustrated.

Great - thanks. Question...How did you get the wall to slant up with the staircase? Is there a tutorial on slanting walls?

Re. the walls -- this happens automatically when you build modular stairs with constrainfloorelevation false. The stair pulls the wall down.
