Default Seasons and Intel Chipset graphics card
I saw the requirements for Seasons, and my graphics card is not supported (I have one of those terrible Intel chipset graphics cards). However, I did see in some other posts that people are getting the game and have one of these graphics cards. If you have Seasons, and you have an Intel chipset card, could you let me know if it runs fine or not? Thanks in advance.

I am playing with the integrated chipset and 512 of RAM and a 3.06 Ghz processor. The game is a LOT slower now than with Pets...but definately playable. I played a HUGE lot last night, and it wasn't too bad. Turn off the 'snow' option in graphics, it helps with performance. You will still get snow drifts...you just won't be able to see them but all the actions are still there (make snow angel, snowman etc). You will still be able to see snow, you just won't get visible accumulations. I also found that saving frequently helps with my performance. I can't wait to get back to my gaming computer, which is currently 2000 miles away GAH.

Hmmmmm.... I am playing on a laptop and it has a lot of ram (2038 MB) and a core duo, but only at 1.83 GHz. I reeeeeeealy want Seasons too. We'll see if more people post.

Canoodle- I have the same "Intel" card, and I'm not sure if I should buy a new video card or not. (I'm gonna buy seasons tomorrow) Is playing impossibly slow, or just lagging for a second?

It's not impossibly slow..but it really depends on your RAM and processor. It also depends on how much CC is placed on the lot (beware of high poly count CC), and the size of the lot.
I am going to upgrade this unit when I return this fall. I don't want to spend the money now, as I am going to my other home in a few weeks.

I would recommend a new card if you can afford it. The stuff packs already don't support this card and subsequent EP's will probably not support this card in the near future.

Chi- I'm not familiar with Intel Core Duos. I have a dual core AMD at my other home ( I *think* 2.4 or more Ghz) and have no troubles at all, but I also have a ton of RAM and a smoking graphics card. From what I understand ( and I am definately not a hardware wiz), the dual cores operate at higher speeds than what the Ghz states. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

I have minimal custom content (I think like 63 files or something), I have 2.8 GHz, and 512 MB Ram. (I hope those are the right numbers), but I've never really cared for the best quality, picture wise. Also, my lots are always smallish, and I only have 4 neighborhoods total. Well, I'm going to try it, and if everyhting goes wrong, I'll splurge for a new video card.

Great, another thing to save up for. *goes and checks prices*

canoodle- I don't have any of the stuff packs. Are you unable to run them with an Intel card?

No stuff packs will run ( well, technically they will *run*, with hideous graphics glitches) with an integrated chipset. That includes FFS, Glamour, Holiday, and I am assuming, the 2 new ones coming out. You will get red flashing walls if you try to install the packs.

That's really lame... I would think the actual expansion packs would give my graphics card more trouble.

Oh well, I guess I just saved a lot of money though.

Yeah, I can't afford a new card, and I wouldn't know how to go about getting/installing one if I could. I have an intel chipset and Pets is really smooth for me depending on lot size (I play big, and it's just a little laggy). I have a lot of CC too. So I'm hopeful.

Passion...the game really slowed down for me with Seasons. But, I only have 512 RAM. Your milage may vary. LOL

My laptop has the Mobile Intel 945GM Express Chipset Family with 128MB of memory, and the game runs fine for me. A bit slow on big lots, but that's about it. I play with the highest settings on, and I have 1.5 GB of RAM.

If you have a lot of RAM to back up an Intel chip (1.5 gigs or better) it'll probably run... okay. Not great, but okay. I really would recommend getting a real graphics card though - I recently upgraded from an integrated Intel chip to a 256 mb PCI-E GeForce 7300 GS, backed up with lots of good RAM, and the difference is dramatic.

I also had to turn down the resolution when I installed Seasons - even having a real, decent graphics card - as it seems to be much, much more graphics intensive on the same settings than previously.

If you're playing Pets right now on an Intel chip and getting chop, I wouldn't recommend trying to run Seasons on it. It will be worse.

My computer specs:

Intel Celeron 1.5 ghrtz
.99 RAM
Mobile Intel(R) 915GM/GMS,910GML Express Chipset Family

I have Seasons and it seems to run fine so far. I shouldn't be able to run it or Pets well, but it seems I can. No real lag, except in houses with tons of sims.

I haven't looked for the snow xray tool, I hear that is graphics card dependent. I probably won't be able to use that and my graphics aren't the best compared to some of the shots I have seen of others' games. I cannot see bump maps on clothes, for example.

My computer runs things much better than it logistically should, so I'm hopeful. I shouldn't have even been able to run OFB as I do, and Pets right now is really good. Barely any lag (highest settings) for Pets even, and very few glitches, if any. My computer produces miracles. It's like it's trying to make up for all of the hardware problems I've had, lol.

Well I have A Toshiba Satellite A100 Series
Centrino Duo @ 1.60GHz x 2
Mobile Intel(R) 945GM Express Chipset 128.0 Mb
1015 Mb of Ram
I right now have All the Ep, and all 3 stuff packs,
The game runs pretty well,
I have everything maxed, plus around 778 items worth of custom content installed/ downloaded.
Right now im playing seasons on the largest lot with 6 sims and 2 pets, and lots of objects on the map, and it is a tad slower now, but not by much.
Right now bump maps dont seem to work, but ive been reading up on that and trying out some things, so ill see if thats workable.
If i can figure out how to ill attach some pictures of the game shortly if any one wants to see them, and if i figure out how to :einstein

Intel chipset on a laptop
hiya all!

I am running seasons on my laptop which is Intel Celeron M 1.3 Ghz with 512 mg Memory and an intel graphics card (64mg shared memory). Seasons works fine for me! The only thing I don't have is that I can't see the fish in lakes or the fish tanks but I can live without that.

The first time i ran it it was very slow, but then I removed all my custom content (6 gig worth) and its running like a dream - fully loaded to where i could actually play the game in about 5 minutes! I deleted some content that i never used and got it down to around 4 gig (I mainly deleted seemingly badly made clothing and custom careers) and now it is running good and taking about 8 minutes to load up which was much better than i was getting even before I installed seasons.

Its worth noting though that when playing the sims I have no background tasks running and windows is set to the classic display settings for user accounts and I hae adjusted the settings for better performance. It deffinatly makes a difference.

Also i have every expansion and stuff pack there is andits all good so I am happy.

I have no idea why it works so well for me with such a basic laptop. It was a special PC world deal (cost me like £400) 2 years ago so its well out of date - I guess I was just lucky.

Im lucky too with mine!

With the classic display and settings - what exactly have you changed? I'm not quite sure what you mean, and I would like to try it.

Basically you run sims in a new uers accout and take away all the fancy windows, backgrounds, screensavers etc. there is a detailed guide on how to do it over at MTS2 (http://www.modthesims2.com/article.php?t=35914) and I disable all the background tasks using Winpatrol (http://www.winpatrol.com/) but you have to be careful what you disable. IF your not sure, google the process to find out what it is before doing it.

Hmmm, I have an Intel graphics card, 1 gig of RAM, over 2 gigs of CC, and I set all settings to high. I have yet to experience any lag in my gameplay, not even big lots with lots of sims on it. But maybe I'm just fortunate?

My graphics card is an Intel too I don't know what, but bad, it doesn't support neighbors and special event camera, yet... it works gorgeously with Seasons... and I only have 496MO of RAM, can you believe that? Actually, my game is FASTER with Seasons than with Pets... It was horribly slow without expansion packs, with nightlife it got superfast, then with uni, slowed down, Pets, slowed down even more, OFB, just messed-up my game... but since I installed Seasons, my game's as fast as my friend's game and she has 512 of RAM and my graphics as good as hers with a great graphics card... just weird but I'm definitely not complaining

Hrm, my game slowed down after I installed University, but from Nightlife onward, there wasn't much of a problem with my game. In fact, Seasons loads faster for me than Pets did.

By the way, do you all have the option for the x-ray cursor in your game? I don't, so I'm just wondering.
