This user has the following games installed:

Sims 3, World Adventures, Ambitions, Late Night, Generations, Pets, Seasons, University Life
Default Can't Access Options Menu After 1.3 Update
I am real angry. I tried to enable the "Advanced Rendering" thing but when I clicked on the options button the options menu didn't open. All the other buttons worked. I tried to switch advancedrendering=0 to 1 in the options.ini in the Electronic Arts folder in Documents, but it made it crash. I've tried reinstalling, restarting the computer, etc, but the problem still stays. I do have Quartz Extreme enabled and Core UI. Everything was fine in 1.2.7. Could it possibly be I don't have enough RAM because I only have 1 GB.
I am at 10.5.7. The only thing I find suspicious is that the Cider Dev Team (dev.ibrain.com.ua) hasn't even reported the new Cider version they are using. (2791) I would be grateful to any help.

I can't open my options menu at all and anytime I try to load or create a new town I crash to desktop with no error message. Tried manually setting it to windowed mode but it didn't help. I also have updated to the newest patch.

Ok so I removed everything in my mod folder, then put them all back in 1 at a time and now it works. :X

I'll try removing my custom content then. I don't need it at the moment.

I'm having this exact problem as well. It's really irritating but it's definitely not due to your computer performance because I'm running 8gb of DDR3 Ram and SLI'ing 2x Geforce 260's

Going no custom content didn't work for me. I believe this doesn't have anything to do with that but more so of the update conflicting with the saves.

I have the same problem. I had no mods or custom content before the patch. And usually, for a big patch like this, I'd wait awhile before updating, but I clicked like a fool and now the game is totally hosed. The options menu won't open for me, my sims walk into their mailbox and get stuck, and clicking the buy menu kicks me to the build menu which then crashes the game. I'd love to revert to 1.2.7 but haven't figured that out yet.

People who are having problems with the patch need to read the first page of this sticky: http://modthesims.info/showthread.php?t=350186

If you narrow it down to specific cc that is causing the problem, then your only solution at this time is to totally uninstall/reinstall without the patch or remove the problem content. It will be up to individual creators to fix whatever EA borked with the patch.

My kid is having the exact same problem with the options mention, the mailbox thing, etc. She has absolutely NO custom content.

oh thank god I thought I was the only one having this problem. Same thing happens to me, no installed CC and my option menu flashes for a second and then disapeers. Buy and build mode also cause crash to desktop. I have plenty of ram and am running way above recommended specs on Windows XP.
