[Sims 2] I got the baby naming glitch; how fix?
I've got the glitch, like this lady did, where my sims stop seeing the birthing cut scene. You don't get to name your baby. Instead you get a baby named Baby Boy or Baby Girl.

Get the SimBlender and use the Names -> Change first name option to change the baby's name.

If you have the Insim, click a random location and press "Spawn..." then "The InSIMENATOR" and keep clicking parts until you see "Rename Sim" ...

The person who said boolprop might be right, but I gave up on boolprop about a year ago so, -shrug-

SimPE is also good for changing names.

I THINK this works, but I don't remember as I haven't tried it in a while.

1. While in the neighborhood, open the cheat box (using Ctrl-Shift-C).
2. Type in boolprop testingcheatsenabled true.
3. Pick the house you want to play.
4. Press Shift on your playable Sim and then click "Spawn". From there, press tombstone of L & D.
5. Then, press Shift on the baby and Click Make Selectable. The baby's picture will disappear from the family panel. Repeat step 5 to get the picture back and to also be able to view your baby's needs and stuff.
6. Then, while having the baby as your playable Sim, click on the Tombstone of L & D.
7. There should be an option to "Rename Sim". Click on that and then type in the name of your choice.

If it doesn't work for newborns, then it definitely will for Toddlers and older.

Think I'll try the blender. Look like it's easiest to use. I'm way into easy. Nope, no PC programmer here. Thx. :D

Boolprop, and then Shift-Click a sim, and "Spawn..." the "Tombstone of L&D". Then, select the sim that you want to rename, and click "Rename Sim". Wait, or is is "Spawn..." "Sim Modder"?

This probably doesn't add anything useful to this thread, but WOW, did the "best answer" in that Yahoo Answers link suck! Reinstall to fix the problem? WTF???

And debug mode (testing cheats) will damage your computer??? Sometimes I just want to shake people.

Edit: In my ire, I clicked Post too soon.
To add: My personal solution for this problem would be the SimBlender. Just don't use SimPE to change a sim's first name. According to Pescado, SimPE does not work well for this. Can't remember the exact reason, but for what it's worth...

Hmmm...that's unfortunate, since I just finished using SimPE to change all the "Goopy" townies to "Guy," "Grantham," "Graham," and "Gary." And one of them's a Tricou descendent I'm trying to bring into the game...oh, well, I guess I'll find out why it doesn't work well for that.

Ah, thank you. I see I can fix it with the batbox, so when I send Guy "Goopy" Gergis to University I can just whip that out. The others are townies I never voluntarily interact with, so they can get as screwed up as they want and if they wander onto a residential lot I'll deal with them then, for tidiness.

You're welcome!

It does sound like the problem is correctable, so the batbox should indeed fix things up nicely.
